I have not had a single drink! |

The UK is proposing that the drink drive limit is reduced to a zero alchohol limit for teenage drivers. Now im rather puzzled by this one...if you are 17 to 19 you must not have a solitary sip of alcohol if you intend to drive...but if you are twenty or over then you may drive with a very small intake of alchohol.Im not sure if im being a bit stupid here, but for all of our sakes would it not be wiser to say ..ZERO ALCOHOL FOR ALL WHO INTEND TO DRIVE!!..and be done with it...also no recreational drugs to be taken either if you intend to drive, and you will be tested for the use of them.

1. baileycows (1698) | 2 months ago | WOW! your drinking age is 17? Ours is 21 here in Louisiana. However ours is all the same I think it is .08 I believe. They have talked about lowering it to .04 but I dont know if they have yet or not.

ruby222 (2340) | 2 months ago | They have talked about raising the age here, but as yet it remains at 18...but you can drive a car legally at 17...drinking and driving ciombined are absolutely not on!!its a lethal combination.

2. p1kef1sh (3038) | 2 months ago | I couldn't agree more Ruby. So I won't try. How daft. The penalties for both groups are the same. Personally I think that it might be better if they raised the driving age to 65! We have a friend whose son is, how shall I say, wayward. He works as an apprentice mechanic and needed to pass his driving test for work. So, after a couple of attempts he passes and buys a car. Three weeks later he smashes into another driver and writes off the car. He's 17. No alcohol, just teenage stupidity. Add alcohol to the equation and he might have killed someone. But then so might a 50 year old. The level should be zero for all.

ruby222 (2340) | 2 months ago | OH Dear...well thats inexperience for you then,so im not sure what to do about that, but its such a darn nuisance when things like that happen, his parents must have been so cheesed off.You are quite right in what you say,the crash could have had an awful outcome. But theres no doubt in my mind that there shold be a zero level in place for all who use the roads.

3. GreenMoo (1862) | 2 months ago | I think they're proposing to do it this way because they'd have a near riot on their hands if they tried to make it a zero alcohol rule for everyone. I agree with you however. Zero alcohol would be best for everyone.

ruby222 (2340) | 2 months ago | It would be a better bet, they keep on about so many units and you can drive, but its just silly!!if there was a zero alchohol rule in place for everyone, then everyone would know where they stood!

4. checapricorn (6018) | 2 months ago | Hi ruby, I agree with you...The age will not assured us that the person will be safe driving and had some alcohol.. it's better to be cautious and make it zero alcohol for those who will be driving!

ruby222 (2340) | 2 months ago | Its seems the safe way out Che,if there is a zero alcohol approach then everyone is totally clear about what is going on.

ruby222 (2340) | 2 months ago | If the approach is taken that no alchohol is allowed if you are going to drive, and no recreational drugs are to be taken if intending to drive, then everyone will be totally clear where they stand. It probably wont stop everyone from doing it,but it may help a little.
