 i have talked about this before with other people and they all seem to come up with different answers to the question and i am sure that is because everyone has their own opinions of what the important keys in a relationship is...personally i think that one of the most important is that you have to be able to trust the person that you are with...so i was just wondering what all of your opinions on this subject is because i know that we all have different opinions...so i was just wondering what are all of yours? thanks for reading!

For one COMMUNICATION you gotta have good communication for the simple fact that you gotta know how to talk to each other with out blowing up or fighting, Second you gotta know how to trust that person and he had to know how to trust you, if you don't know how to trust each other than one of you isn't going to tell the other person have his privacy. There are many other things that are key to a happy relationship love, respect you gotta have respect for each other..

I think that friendship is important, after all if you are your partners best friend then you will trust them, love them (and not just in a romantic way), and need them. Building this friendship can help you work through other problems that can arise.
Of course, I am not an expert. I have been married almost three years. But I would say that our marriage has gone through a lot.
-We got pregnant six weeks into our marriage and it was a horrible pregnancy with me sick for the last seven and a half months of it.
-We lived in Michigan and my husband couldn't find permanent work
-We moved to Wisconsin and in with his cousins, which turned out very bad. (We lived with them six weeks and it was horrible).
-My mom moved in with us...
-My husband was laid off from his job
-He moved to Texas
-My mom, the baby and I were in Wisconsin without him for three and a half months
-My mom lived with us for fourteen months and it was really bad. We spent about 300 dollars a month on her needs, plus moved her stuff twice (about $1000 the first time and $1500 the second). Plus she hated my husband which caused a bunch of issues.
I would say that while I am not an expert on relationships...we have been through a lot and the biggest thing that has brought us through is that he is indeed my best friend and I am his.

You have to feel comfortable to tell your partner if something is bothering you. If you don't then it just bottles up inside of you and could lead to other problems. As for me it was divorce.

I think one of the most important keys in any relationship is communication, and being able to listen to another person and really hear what they are saying,
I think compromise is important in a relationship, and I think that understanding is needed.
Understanding and compassion,
I can't think of anything else right now but I know there is a lot of things that go into a relationship to make it work, and my husband has more of them than I do, I could not ask for a better husband.

It's hard to try to narrow down to only a few, since there are many important factors - I thought flexibility was also a very good one and kind of ties into the respect factor as well.
Although the physical aspect is important in a relationship for obvious reasons, it shouldn't be what a relationship is based on... face it, we're all going to get old, wrinkled and saggy so you better be with someone you like for who they are on the inside... just my .02 worth.
