That was very rude of them. You took time out of your life to buy the baby a gift and take it over there now I could understand if the baby was sleeping and they could have said the baby is asleep right now but you could come back over later to see the baby that would have been alright.
I wouldn't go back over there either if they are that selfish.

How RUDE!! How can people be so rude as to do something like that to you? I would ask them why they were so rude when I came over with a gift for the baby. Maybe they were having a bad day, or are just plain rude people!!!Lori

That was very rude of your neighbor. If they didn't want anyone in because scared the baby might get sick I could understand if they told you but saying nothing at all is not good. I would do just as you are doing, if they don't want to be friendly and neighborly then you don't have to either.
The last time I took a gift over to a neighbor I knew I was not going to go in the house when I went over there. They baby at birth was just over 1 pound and when she finally got big enough to come home she was still at risk for many germs doing bad things to her.

I am not sure to be honest how I would feel. I would definately be upset about it and then angry. I do not think that I would want much to do with them after that either.

If they don't want you to get inside their house, they can bring the baby to the door so you can glance...

I think that was pretty rude of them to do that. If I was you I wouldn't go back over there either. You took time and your money to buy their baby something and they aren't nice and thankful enough for you to see the baby. There are a lot of people wouldn't even buy the baby anything. If they didn't want you to see the baby right then they could have been polite and said something like "why don't you come over tomorrow and see the baby" or come over to your house with the baby. I don't think I would go back over there. Did they even thank you? I have a neighbor who is nice one day and then is very rude the next day. I don't even talk to her or wave to her anymore.

What strange people you have as neighbours, I would really get very hurt if that was done to me. Yes you are guite right to ignore them and forget about it, just don't speak to them and if ever they tail you, you ask them why they done that you but best forget and get on with your life. Hi It may have been that you called at an inconvienent moment and that she was suffering the baby blues and didn't want to see anyone but I think an apology would have been expected sometime shortly after or a reason given at the time. The gift was for the baby and he or she is an innocent. I always confront situations so rather than ignoring I would directly ask why. Ellie:D

Same as what you have done! I will treat them as if i do not know them. Even if they try to make amends, i will not trust them.

That's just not nice. Atleast Dad could have asked you to return at a later time to see the baby when it was convenient. To grab a gift and not invite you in was rude. I would be angry and hurt. Spending the time, energy and money to buy a nice gift and not even get a thank you would really turn me off, totally. I don't blame you one bit for being miffed about this incident. I also would just go my own way and not many any attempt to become friendly. Did you get a thank you note from the couple?
