Do you look at the keyboard when you type? |
|
I've never learnt to type and although I use 2-4 fingers and type at a reasonable pace and know all the letters on the keyboard, I have to look at the keyboard when I type. If I close my eyes or look at the screen I type gibberish! Its a frustrating habit as sometimes I type only to realise that the caps lock is on or I have typed in the wrong place etc etc. Do any of you need to look at the keyboard when you type?

1. princessdian (302) | 1 month ago | I don't have to look at the keyboard when I type because at a very young age I was taught how to use a keyboard the proper way with all fingers. At first learning it was quite a struggle and I had to wear some gear that I couldn't see when I looked down. It really annoyed me but it was worth it because now it is natural to me. Now I can type many words per minute.

pitstop (2009) | 1 month ago | My dad kept telling me to learn it at school - we had a typewriter at home too. But I was a tad too lazy! Now I'm paying the price!!

2. powerbrokenape (249) | 1 month ago | I've been using computers for a few years now, so I learned how to type without looking on my own.:) I can type about seventy words a minute. It helps for making money on this site, haha.:D Although, if you do need to look at the keyboard to type, don't worry about buying typing programs or going to classes or anything like that unless you want to learn really fast. You should be able to type without looking after you've had a bit of practice.

3. dhangski (1592) | 1 month ago | I don't look at my keyboard while typing. I learned how to type when I was still in school. We have a typing course then. And I had practiced it more when I used to work. Well, in your case I should say that you keep practicing. "Practice makes perfect". Happy postings! HUGZ!

drknlvly6781 (2066) | 1 month ago | The end result is cool, indeed, but when I was going through all those classes it was very tedious!!! I took Keyboarding 1 in Junior high and passed, took it again in High school because they said it was a different class (yeah right, same book same learning). They tried to give it to me a third time but I hollered could I at least get Keyboarding 2?!? No dice, but I got out of the class. When I got to college they tried to give it to me again but I tested out and took Keyboarding 2 (Finally!!!)

9. gitfiddleplayer (1323) | 4 weeks ago | Nope. I took typing in Jr. High and I was the only guy in my class, the guys would laugh at me but I didn't care. When it came time to get a real job the potential employer would ask me how fast I could type, 70 wpm, they always wanted a demonstration, I'd gladly give it. I'm sure those dolts who laughed at me would answer, "I use the hunt, peck and cuss method". Just for fun here is a link to a typing test. I use it once a month just to keep fresh fingers. http://blackdog4kids.com/games/word/typing.html
