Yep I feel Christmas in July in Australia too. It's been so cold this year for a winter.

This seems to be becoming more and more popular in Australia, doesn't it, hiccup? I notice the Blue Mountains have a lot of Christmas events in July every year now. Personally, one Christmas is quite stressful enough for me - but I suppose there's a lot of money to be made out of it for function rooms and restaurants!

Christmas in July...well, in my honest opinion, this is only for the benefit of all retailers coz the July version of Christmas here in Oz is nothing but pure commercialism...fancy christmas trees and decors, mega shopping galore for cards and presents, sumptuous foods on every table, etc.

You know Hiccup, I think australia should change christmas day to july instead of december.
At least in july the weather is cooler and we would feel more like cooking and eating a real christmas meal.
It is just far too hot in december to want to eat.

oh shoot, here in the States, we've had "Christmas in July" for a long time lol! and it serves one purpose only....sales. stores of every genre have a big "Christmas in July" sale...bedding places, clothes..car dealerships. its always annoyed the hell outta me..cause the sales prices might be decent but they are not as great as "gift under the tree"

commercialism at its most desperate in my opinion...other than those furniture stores that have "Going Out of Business" sales for years and years and years!

Wow! Christmas in July - thats even earlier than I start my christmas shopping and I thought I was bad starting in October!! x

I think Christmas in July is about the silliest thing I have ever heard. They thought they would catch all the British who live here because those people would love to have the traditional feast in nice cold weather. The truth is it's just one more way to make more money out of anyone silly enough to fall for it. Can you imagine going through all that twice per year? Ho Ho Ho and No No No!

You tease! I absolutely adore Christmas and here you are reminding me about it! When I think of Christmas in July, it helps to break up a year because 365 days is a long time to wait for another Christmas!

We have that here, too. I think it ruins the spirit of Christmas, which isn't all about gift giving and receiving but has a deeper meaning for me and lots of other people. The commercial interests have promoted this July thing, Christmas is an economic opportunity for them and they have helped ruin the spiritual side of it for many people--but only if we let them! Ha!

Anyway, it's kind of sad that business has to poke its nose into everything to milk as much profit as possible.

Ignore it, and enjoy Christmas when it comes, however you celebrate it!

Hi hiccup. It kinda trivializes the real significance of Christmas don't you think? It's kinda sad that it has become just another marketing gimmick. The only benefit I can see from this is if someone actually gives you a Christmas gift. lol
