Teaching:The noble profession |
|
When I was little boy, I dreamed to be come a teacher someday w/out knowing what does it mean.Years passed by,my sister graduated her profession as "TEACHER". She taught its easy to deal w/ children, but in reality, its the "hardest thing". It involves patience, commitment, dedication and love to the children. You're handling children w/different character traits. You have to be careful of everything you do and everything you say because your the model of the youth.Sometimes your like an "IDIOT" to act as an actress or actor just to convey pupils/students attention. There was one time my sister listened to her pupil's mother regarding the 3rd party. As teacher, she gave her advice inspite of the fact that she still single and has no enough knowledge about marriage life. The teachers give thier "BEST" of what they have because its not the salary that count most, Its the SERVICE and DEVOTION.

It requires dedication and you never stop to be a teacher. Even if you stop teaching, the kids that you once had in your class will see you as "their teacher". needless to say that I also teach and I love it although it is only small part of my profession and I teach at the university which is a slightely different public. But i love it a lot

2. indianpedi (1163) | 3 months ago | Teaching used to be considered a very noble profession in my country until the last decade or so. Sadly, now this profession is losing its glory in the eyes of the populace, because of several reasons: Teachers themselves have begun to develop a mercenary attitude. They work more for pay than for the sake of teaching (this is so at both, the school and college levels). They are always agitating for more pay, because they feel they are being chronically underpaid. Since most of our Educational Insitutions are subsidised by the Govt, there is a chronic hostility between the two sides! Secondly, the profession has got highly unionised. So devoted teachers, already few in number, are forced to behave like the uncaring majority and work to rule, so that they are not singled out for 'misdemeanour'! Also, in my country, we have a system of job reservation for certain Castes that suffered social and economic humiliation for centuries, until India became a free Republic, in the last century. Teachers who hail from this strata often lack enough knowledge and skill, but enjoy the same privileges as the others. This effort to balance a past social injustice results in the downgradation of quality. But that is our national policy and we stick to it. Those who like Teaching as a Profession may still consider it, but it would be at the bottom of their priorities and choices!

3. psyche49f (1775) | 3 months ago | I guess you are just sharing your thoughts on teaching as a noble profession. I am also a teacher, but in the tertiary level. I agree with you that teaching is one of the noblest professions, although one does not really get rich out of the profession alone. The teacher is often depicted as over-worked, underpaid, and is more often abused. I am touched with your sharing about your sister being a teacher, and even goes out of her way to listen to the problems of parents, etc. At least, your sister has "gone the extra mile" to reach out to people and acts as a sympathetic listener to people at the same time. It's this multiple role that makes a teacher a truly beautiful person...in spite of the difficulties associated with the job. It's a most demanding but thankless job. But my word of caution is that if one wishes to get rich instantly, one should not choose the teaching profession. For one, it's not simply a livelihood; it's more of a vocation, really.

Elkeliini (211) | 3 months ago | you really think that teaching is a thankless job? I get a great feeling of satisfaction when I manage to explain a difficult issue to students and they get it after that. makes me feel proud of me and of them.

7. everlasting (10034) | 3 months ago | I agee with you that teaching is the noblest profession of all. They mold the minds of kids to be better citizens and to better humans. That is the ideal teeacher which in the past is true. now, most families, here in the Philippines, will let their intelligent kids to be doctors, engineers, lawyers and the least to be a teacher. it is sad that most teachers today are of low quality and do not know what they are teaching! they have been several cases in my kids school that i confront the teachers because they are teaching the wrong information to my kids! No wonder, there are many rude kids nowadays!

8. Pose123 (3469) | 3 months ago | Hi reckon21, I agree I too have always thought of teaching as a very noble profession, but it is not meant for everyone. There are many in the teaching field who have discovered that after they began. I often think that some people are born to be teachers because they have everything that it takes and young people seem to love them. Blessings.

9. kissie34 (709) | 3 months ago | I agree with you that being a teacher is a nobles profession and it is one of the most difficult job because it is in the hand of the teacher of the future of his/her students/pupils... Since before, I never dreamed to be a teacher because I know that it is that easy.. But then when I got into college, I had offered a full scholarship but with the course of education.. Since, my parents cant afford to send me in an exclusive school in our city so I just took the opportunities that the school had given me.. In my first year, I found it easy because I don't have major subjects yet but then as I move to second year until fourth year I realize that I can't never be a teacher.. I had experienced teaching in the classroom, dealing with different kinds of students.. I am handling 3rd and 4th year high school and I really find difficulty in handling them because they are already hard headed and they knew that I am just their student teacher.. I tried my best to deal with them.. I act 10 years older from them even though its only 3-4 years.. I had experience different things being a teacher like making a lesson plan everyday, preparing recitations, exams, lectures, and most of all motivations for me to get their attentions.. It is really hard.. Actually, even though I don't like to be a teacher still I continue it and I finished my four years in college in that course.. I gradated this year last March 29.. Since, I am not ready to face the reality that I am already a teacher, now I am working as a graphic artist in one of the company.. Until now, I am not decided to be a teacher cause I know that I am not yet ready.. I don't know if I am still going to take the board exam.. I am still thinking of getting the board exam because I did not review for the board exam..

10. shinymood (234) | 3 months ago | I can't agree with you more. Teaching is not only a job. It's never easy to be a good and dedicated teacher. I myself is a teacher too. I used to teach primiary school kids for four years. They are very lovely but at the same time i have to think of various ways to keep those unruly kids under my thumbs. There are times i sing and dance to teach them a certian new word. I love them so much that i never forgive myself if i'm not preparing my lessons well. But then i started to think of my future, will i be energetic enough to go on this way? The answer is no. So i go on my graduate studies and now i'm a teacher in a university in my country. College students are different. They are very attentive but more demanding in terms of knowledge and life experience. But one thing is the sure: to be a good teacher, you must love your students first. Attitude counts.
