Which is older?

You are right Paganism did exist before Christianity. In fact many rituals were incorporated into the Christian faith in order to make conversion for the pagans to Christians easier. That's stuff like the Christmas Tree, the Easter Egg/Bunny. Most of the Christian holidays are centered around formerly Roman or Pegan holidays as well. Didn't want to make those people feel like they are missing out on some festivities. Still, of course, most conversion was by force, either because the king, duke, whoever was the leader, was converted or because they were overrun by Christian believers. Unfortunately, religious fanatism and the strong believe that one's religion is the one and only true religion can lead to stuff like that.

I believe that the worship of God the father from the old testament is at least 6000 years old and paganism is almost as old and started with Cain the son of Adam and Eve when he sinned against God.The very basis of Christianity goes all the way back to when Adam and Eve were put out of the Garden of Eden, And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. This is when Jesus was first predicted to come to the earth as a man.

I would have to say paganism is older. I was taught that it has been around since the beginning of time when, when cultures would reenact a hunt in hopes of a good hunt, or draw pictures on walls in the hopes the pictures would make it real.

As for Christianity, as we know it today, its been around since the arrival of Christ, but i have no real idea how long people have believed in the christian God before his arrival.

contrary to very very popular modern conceptions, Paganism was never really much persecuted by Christianity.

As "Christians" we believe that Christianity was first. Not necessarily by that name. But we believe in Adam and Eve and that they worshipped the same God that we worship. We believe that they were the first of humankind. So we believe that paganism came after.

Paganism is older and it survive to Christianity as Christianity itself has survived to communism. it is not easy to destroy a religion.

Paganism is far older.There were Pagans at the very beginning. Christianity is such a young religion. And it is true that today's Pagans are not exactly like their ancient counterparts but neither are Christians. We all are evolving so why not our form of religion?
