 Has your phone ever dialed 911 on its own..or any other number for that matter?
Yes, I'm serious!!!!
Emergency Services came to our door about an hour ago saying a call had been made from our line and that the 911 operator had been repeatedly calling our line to try and get an answer..Of course our phone had not rang and consequently we have been spending a family day Sunday at home due to the yucky weather outside and so had not tried to call anyone today either...
Now we know our phone is all static and we are unable to call out on it and I guess we can't receive calls either!!!!
Have you ever heard of such a ridiculous thing!?!
An ambulance actually came here for nothing!
I feel so bad about that not to mention the time that the 911 operator took in trying to reach us for nothing when no one here had tried to call the number anyway and we were all fine!!!
Weird.....
Please share any similar stories or how you would feel if this happened to you!
I just want to add here that this has been occurring the static etc and being out of the phone many times in the last few months but never has anything like this occurred! It also tends to happen around a storm and then when our phone company comes they never fix it properly and now this!!!
My husband is thinking of switching phone companies...
What would you do?

This has never happened to me, but how bizarre! I can definitely understand feeling bad that they ambulance came to your house for no reason. It's taking them away from a real, potential emergency.
I would be pretty frustrated if this did happen to me. I don't know what I'd do, though, because I wouldn't know who or what to blame.

It really is bizarre and I sure have never heard of this happening before but all of a sudden there was a knock on the door and I was in my bath robe of all things so I ran into the bedroom and my hubby went to the door shocked to see an EMS crew there claiming we had phoned from this line and asking to see me as well...wanting to make sure we were all O.K. I even had to check on my boy who had put himself to bed early I'd just been in kissing him good night about twenty minutes early but when they asked me to check I did and he was fine!
And you are right...I apologized over and over for taking them away from someone who may have needed them...My hubby will have to look into this tomorrow!

Suddenly I heard a voice on the phone.
While cleaning I had accidently pressed one of my stored numbers.
Maybe someone accidently hit 911 it can happen.
I would be changing phone companies,
What if you do have an emergency and cannot ring out for help.

We actually have no stored numbers in our phone and no one has even picked it up to try and use it today! We have no need as we have spent a family day at home...
I really do think we need to change companies as this happened where we were out of a phone at the end of June and before that another about two months ago...it really is getting annoying and we do have a cell phone now but EMS or 911 will not respond to calls from a cell phone so you really do need a land line!
My hubby will be looking into this tomorrow!

I know of someone who had a phone that would autmoatically dial 911 if he held down he 9 key for too long (it's a cellphone). The guy forgot to put the key buard on the phone, and sat on it (it was in his back pocket) When he sat on it it dialed 911 and they found him at work to see what the problem was.

| heavenschild (1215) | 2 months ago | Well we have had it looked at at least twice before and obviously they have not fixed the problem properly! It generally seems to give the most problems around storms etc. But we are definitely fed up with it!!!!
My husband is going to look into it tomorrow but I think that we will likely be changing phone companies

And if they do not do the Job properly then yes change your Company straight away as that is what I would do

| 8. ljegbers (5764) | 2 months ago |  Hello Heavenschild. That is very frustrating. I worked for a company and we dealt with international business. Our company had to dial 9 to get an outside line for a long time; however, when our phone system was upgraded, we not longer had to do that.
So we got a call from the Sheriffs office because our fax machine (which all the humbers were programed in there before the phone upgrade) was dialing 9 for the out line and the 1-1 because that's how international phone numbers are dialed.
We had to wipe clean the fax machine and reprogram in all the fax numbers.

I would switch phone companies if your phone is out that often. I mean what if something were to really happen and you needed to call 911 but couldn't? Hope you get it all straightened out.

I would definately get a different phone company. That really sounds strange that your phone would call 911 without anyone on the phone. Hopefully when you switch phone companies they will fix the static you have. It just isn't safe not having a phone that you can't hear when you call and you don't get calls.

He and I were sound asleep when the police pounded on the door. Scared us half to death. When I said that everything was fine and I didn't call anyone they looked at me strangely. Why don't they believe you when nothing is wrong. And if something is wrong they usually say they can't do anything about it. I don't get that LOL. | |
