what do u say when ur phone rings up?

I say that silly old word. Hello.
It is just habit. I have answered the phone hello ever since I started answering the phone. Most people I know do too.

I normally just say "hey" When I answer the phone or I will just say hello.

The word `hello` is so much ingrained in my brain that whether i want it or not it comes out automatically. However i feel that the word `ya` that you have started using sounds very crude and rude to me. This is my personal opinion and i dont have any objections to your using it.

Hi aengra4, I use Hello, yes or some times "moshi moshi" means hello in Japaneses, I'm not a Japanese..but I love those terms of saying hello. It's cute!
I like talking on phone but I don't like talking in hour, just for important things only.

I still use hello with of course a standard greeting like good morning or good evening. I don't think I could substitute that word when answering the phone.

It just depends on the person who is calling. If it is my friend, i say ya tell

If it is someone i dont know, i say the silly word hello.

well i usually say 'wei' to the caller. it's the mandarin equivalent to hello. however, if the caller's number is not familiar, i'll use hello instead. 'wei' is reserved for friends and family. i don't know when i started this and i can't really tell why. in the office, i'll greet the caller with salutations as i wouldn't know if it's my boss calling. cheers;p

I use the word "Hello". It is my habit and I think it i the habit for most people.

generally i'll just say 'hello' as well...sometimes if i know that person well then i'll just go 'hi xxx' or 'hey xxx' ...oRrr if i'm really angry i'll probably answer with a 'yes?' or 'what??!' ..hehe...
