1. spoiledbrat802 (649) | 4 weeks ago | Not really. American fastfood chains are popular in the Philippines. But Japanese cars are more popular here. Cheap Chinese products are everywhere, from electronics to school supplies to clothing. Nokia, which is basically a Finland product, is still the most popular brand of celphone here, although Motorola (which is American I guess?) is also popular. Oh, Avon products are everywhere here, the same with Victoria's Secret. And Levi's jeans are still the preferred jeans.

coolseeds (2204) | 4 weeks ago | You say "well over here at Malaysia, its almost the same as the Phillipines:) I drive a Toyota, Sony Bravia TVs, Panasonic electrical appliances, Ikea furnitures and a dell laptop:) " That sounds like a lot of Americans.
| |
| ferglryan (16) | 4 weeks ago | hmm i think Dell is American, ya the hotselling laptops here are Dell, Hp and Toshiba. But I like Hp:D How much is a recon Ford Mustang? Issit cheaper or more expensive than the Nissan Fairlady/350Z?

| |
| |

7. Piscesmoon (1064) | 4 weeks ago | Is Converse, the company that makes shoes, American? Converse All Stars are incredibly popular with teenagers over here (Australia). I know mine would all like a pair. Air Jordans are also really popular but terribly expensive.
| |
| |
moonlitmagikchild (1895) | 4 weeks ago | im not sure about converse.. i went to their website but had no clue on where to look to find out lol.. i think air jordans are one of the american companies that make everything every where else so i dunno how to tally up that lol

8. p1kef1sh (2844) | 4 weeks ago | No, not in the UK. There are a few US products of course but not many. I have a garden Rotavator from Connecticut and a pile of Heat Bars that a friend send from Missouri (so that doesn't really count). Chevrolet sells cars here as does Cadillac. One of our major car companies, Vauxhall, is owned by General Motors but the cars are manufactured here or elsewhere in Europe. Some foodstuffs, but most are US brands manufactured in Europe. US branded fast food restaurants abound: McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut etc. You can buy Fruit if the Loom here too. But all that stuff is manufactured elsewhere too. So all in all there is not too much here. Oh, some Hershey bars can be purchased here too. I bet that you don't get too much British stuff either!
| |
| |
moonlitmagikchild (1895) | 4 weeks ago | sounds like so far you have the most american things lol.. i think the uk influences a lot of things/trends/items in the us but i dont think they want to give you guys the credit lol

9. lazeebee (972) | 4 weeks ago | Yup, we have a lot of American products, brands and companies here. I've friends working in Microsoft, 3M, Dell,Exxon-Mobil,Wyeth and other American companies here. We have MacDonalds, KFC, Burger King, Fisher Price, American Express, even Tony Romas (though I must say I miss the real Tony Romas in US - the quality here is sadly below par) Our perception of American products is premium quality, which also means premium price!

moonlitmagikchild (1895) | 4 weeks ago | hmm interesting!! lol whats sad is this is either the 2nd or 3rd on here so far talking about tony romas and i had to look it up because i had no clue

darkjedi (1344) | 4 weeks ago | Hmmm never heard of Tony Romas whats that?
| |
lazeebee (972) | 4 weeks ago | Hi, I'm sorry - didn't know that you were asking me about this. Tony Roma's is an American family restaurant chain, world famous for its ribs. The award winning Baby Back Ribs are the house specialty. I first tried Tony Roma's when I was in LA around 1999 or 2000. The ribs were really good. I don't know how many other outlets they have or the locations. Maybe you can check them out from the net.

moonlitmagikchild (1895) | 4 weeks ago | i have no idea and i never really really thought about it till this conversation just because some things that are considered american arent made here lol.. its all bizarre
| |
darkjedi (1344) | 4 weeks ago | Yeah it is bizarre lol. And it sucks, we should make more stuff in this country and not do it over seas just because its cheaper. We need more people who care about this country running it and in charge of corporations.
| |
coolseeds (2204) | 4 weeks ago | Toyota makes cars in West Virginia. So does that mean that they are no longer Japanese products? Does "Black & Decker" and "General Electric" count as an American product? What about "Snap-On" or "Craftsman" tools?
| |
darkjedi (1344) | 4 weeks ago | Hmmm are they actually made in america? Then hell no they arnt. We need to bring these jobs back to america, including call center jobs. Have people on the phone trying to help us with our computers and other stuff who we can actually understand.
| |
coolseeds (2204) | 4 weeks ago | LOL And they don't understand us. They might be able to speak it but a lot don't understand it. I forgot "John Deere". Certainly they would make tractors in the USA.
| |
coolseeds (2204) | 4 weeks ago | What about "Troy Bilt"? They make the pieces in the USA and send them to Mexico to be assembled.
| |
darkjedi (1344) | 4 weeks ago | Just looked on google john deere is made in america. And well troy bilt so they make the pieces in america and then send them to america to be built, why cant we build them here in america? Why should we not have the jobs here in america building them? Oh wait because here in america you would have to pay the employees at least minimum wage, if not a lot more, probably would be a lot more, and in mexico you can pay them 20 cents an hour or so.
| |
craftcatcher (1549) | 4 weeks ago | I can vouch for John Deere products being made in America. I live within 4 miles of 3 John Deere plants and John Deere Engineering Branch is right at the end of my street. I worked as a security guard for a while at John Deere Plow and Planter in the late 70's. It's about half the size now than is was back then but they still manufacture there.
