a rubik cube birthday cake?

yeap, isn't that a neat idea for somebody's birthday cake? and yes, i researched the cake this morning and it looked easy enough to make. only thing it take 3 cake mixes and 6 different colors of icing. and i will be sure to post a picture of my finished project when i get finished with the cake. thanks for responding.

i hear ya. somebody where that my brother works requested for me to make them a rubik cube birthday cake! i cannot wait to start decorating it. lol that is the fun part of it all. and i will be asking around $40.00 for the cake as it calls for 3 cake mixes and 6 different colors of icing. thanks for responding. and be looking for the finished project to hit the wire sometime towards the end of next week.

thanks. i have seen photographs before of the hamburger cake that you are talking about. i haven't made one like that before thou. lol and i hear ya about not wanting to eat the birthday cake. that is what everybody tells me. lol thanks for responding. i will post the picture of the cake when i am finished decorating it.

thanks. i am going to do it probably all mixed up because i do not have a real rubik cube to look at, at home, unless i am sure that i could find a picture of one on the internet that i could go by. which way do you think that it would look the best decorated? thanks for responding.

I think all messed up would look better. It'd be more colorful. I'm sure you can find pics on the web. I know I have one around here somewhere, but no clue where it is!

thanks! i cannot wait to start baking and decorating the birthday cake towards the end of next week. whoo hoo! i couldn't believe it this morning when i woke up and checked my e-mail and i had a birthday cake order waiting for me! yeah! and you know that i will be sure to post the finished project when i am finished decorating it. and i do not know about the genius where that my brother works, (i think that they want to see what i can do) lol test me out. you know? this is the second cake that is going to his place of employment that i have made so far. i need to get me a color ink jet cartridge and print out all of the pictures of the cakes that i have made in the past and put them in a small notebook and let my brother take that to work with him. right? and i hope that word of mouth works out for me, because i am not a salesperson whatsoever. lol

Yes, I would definitely make yourself a binder with photos and all the details. I sure understand about not being a salesperson because I am the same way. I can't seem to "push" my crafts. Just can't motivate myself to sell. It's not in my blood..lol

thanks so much for your nice words of faith in me. i seen a picture of a rubik cube cake on the internet this morning, that the middle layer of the cake was outward on it, like you had mentioned. but, i think that i am going to go the easy way out with it, and make it a checkerboard pattern and put the original colors of the rubik cube on the cake. the cake calls for 3 cake mixes and 6 different colors of icing. i sure wish i still had my rubik cube that i used to have when i was a teenager. lol i need something to look at while decorating the cake. i can research rubik cube's on the internet and print me off a picture of one. i'll figure it out. lol i am so excited that i got another cake order today! i am going to ask $35.00 to $40.00 for it as well. gonna be a heavy cake to deliver. and i will post the picture of the birthday cake as soon as i am finished decorating it. thanks so very much for responding.

Cakes aren't cheap! I purchased this one for $40 for my son's fifth birthday last month!
Granted the trucks are real and he still has them to play with (Though I had to wash the icing off of them)
Still it was enough money to pay so I am not surprised that a golf course would cost $75 A lot of work goes into these cakes!

my wife and I watch ace of Cakes, we are from Baltimore, and I believe the starting price of his cakes are now around 300.00 if not more, No Duff Goldman is not cheap, he won a food network challenge, and that alone is 10,000 and it is said if anyone wins a challenge like that you can automatically almost double the price for you cakes and no one will bat an eye.

I probably would have paid 75.00 for a fancier cake but it wouldn't be quite like Duff Goldman's and my wife and I probably would compare it to that.
