 I am starting my own candle company selling homemade soy candles. does anyone have any hints for me to get my company up and going. should I start small making a few at a time and build up pre orders or should I make a lot of candles and try to sell them right away. Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Think from the customers point of view. The kind of market and situations vary so there is no fixed method or rules to good business. Give me specific details and i maybe able to help you. | Corimore (83) | 4 months ago | I looked into MLM versions of the same kind of bus. but I found that I can purchase supplies cheaper through other companies and don't have to recruit people to join in order to make the money. What I don't have is the capital to start big. Should i save enough money so i can start with a larger amount of product or should I go ahead and start small and build the capital. Most everyone i have spoke to in my hometown say they would buy candles from me just let them know when i get started so I know i can make at least a little money but i don't have a lot of experience in advertising and such. | |

Just remember, everything starts off small, but the secret is to dream big! think different. be creative. make posters fliers etc... 2.  auntiedis (132) | 4 months ago |  I commend you for trying to jump right into a business with candles. But for safety's sake, and the sake of your customers, and your business, there's a LOT more to it than that. First you have to do tons of research. Google is your friend. Did you know that every scent and wax and color composition takes a different size wick? Yup, no lie. YOU have to do that research and figure out what it is so your candle burns clean to the sides of the jar and smells good. No one who has been in the business is going to drop this information in your lap if they've worked hard themselves and done the research. You don't want make a bunch of candles and sell them without testing them, only to find that you have no repeat customers. Why? Because you didn't test your wick, and all your candles tunneled down the center. Your business will be over before it even begins. Is it frustrating? Yes. But every candle maker worth their salt does wick testing. Before I started my business, it took me almost 2 years to perfect my formula, and a handful of scents. I wish you the best of luck, but please, do the research!

I gave birth to my twins about a week ago and they were almost 4 months early so I won't be on here as often and the candle biz is going to have to wait.
