Changing my Avatar  | |  I decided to change my avatar upon learning of the horrible death of Danieal Kelly. Therefore I changed it to her picture I found on the internet. It's my small way of honoring her.
She was a Philadelphia native, and I'm from Pennsylvania too, who was neglected, abused, and starved by her parents because she had Cerebral Palsy and they were embarrassed. I have Cerebral Palsy too. I don't think she was functional enough to fight off the situation as I would have been in that situation even at her age. But that doesn't really matter. There are nine people being charged with her death. I imagine its her parents, her brothers and sisters, and several social workers. Her last word was "water" so apparently she did have some ability to understand what was happening to her. I don't know how to deal with this situation or even how to process it. It's not acceptable to kill your kid just because they are disabled. If you don't want the child, give them to me! I want kids very much! And I will treat them better than that. I hope these people don't get away with killing her as so often happens when some caregiver kills a disabled person, especially a kid. I have no idea what the appropriate punishment would be although my darker thoughts have some ideas that I won't share with you.
This situation keeps happening more and more often lately. Why do you think that is? How do we stop it? Suggestions and thoughts welcome.

Being a parent of a child with a CP, I understand that it is something alot of people cannot relate to and you feel alone, alot. That is no reason to do what they have done. It is unthinkable. There is absolutely no way I could do that to a child. I think they should lock them in a room with no food and water. That is my opinion. Everyone needs to remember that there is always someone that will help if things get so bad that you feel you cannot handle it anymore. Some people are so backwards in their way of thinking that they do such horrible things. Besides, what is there to be embarassed about? It's their child and they should be right proud of her but apparently they weren't educated enough to know that and that in itself is so sad. The only consulation in this is to know she's in Heaven now and doesn't have anything wrong with her any more because God made her whole. She feels no pain and no sorrow, only happiness and joy.

| CatsandDogs (3391) | 4 months ago | Oh trust me, I know and understand what you mean but I still stand by what I said because yes she's whole as God put her here as she was and took her home and made her whole in a sense that she's in no more pain in any way. I'm handicapped as well for I'm legally deaf and I have lupus. When I pass on, God is going to make me whole by making my hearing or the lack thereof whole and my lupus is going to be no more. However, I did not mean to offend but merely saying it as I see it. Yes I'm whole now but I'll be even more so when I leave this world. | |

It is sad that the parents were embarrassed.There are many people who would have love to adopt a child with special needs.They could have given her the love she deserved.There is no shame in knowing what you can and can't handle.And these days society wouldn't have looked down on parents who Knew they can't take proper care of their child and they go and either get th help to keep her or put her up for adoption.
