That does sound good. I cook that way too, throw a little of this in, a little of that in. I rarely make anything the same way again. I rarely use recipes and when I do, I add my own touches, or don't add things that I don't have. I have been cooking for so many years, I just do it. I have a West Bend Slow Cooker that I use all the time, its a wonderful cooker.

You can't go wrong with a good crockpot recipe, I will have to try that one! My easy favorite is frozen chicken (can't say the "B" word so I'll say white meat), a can of black beans, a cup of salsa and stir in a container of cream cheese and mix it all in and serve. If you like, cut up the chicken and serve with tortillas.

That sounds pretty dang good. I think the beef recipie would be good too, kind of like a beef stroganoff. I think it would be good with hamburger or tuna also.
I havent tried to make anything like that before but I mgiht when the weather cools off alittle. It sounds like it would be good.

That sounds absolutely delicious! I'm going to have to try that one for sure. I like to mess around and modify my recipes lots of times. I'll have an idea to add something extra to a recipe, or substitute one thing for another. Most of the time it comes out good and becomes a family favorite. Unless I'm baking, I usually don't follow strict measurements either. I grew up with German relatives and their recipes seemed to be 'a handful' of this, a pinch of that, lol it's taken me many years to actually measure out things and write them down so I could pass them along to the younger generation in the family. Crockpot bread?! Gee, I didn't know you could make bread in a crockpot. If you get the time I'd sure love to have that recipe and try it out. I'm a crockpot fanatic in the cooler weather, makes the house smell good all day long. (er...maybe that should be I'm a crackpot fanatic...the juries out on that one hehehe:-)

That sounds so scrumptious. I made cheesy scalloped potatoes in our infrared/;convection oven for the first time recently and when cooked they were still too liquidy, so I stirred in a handful of instant mashed potato flakes. That worked.

I almost always modify recipes to healthy them up, adding more veggies, whole grains and extra stuff to cut down the salt, as just about all the package mixed are way too salty, plus they use the commercial salt which is laden with sugard and aluminum (think altzheimers!).

I have a crock pot but I am afraid I haven't been too creative with it. Actually I haven't used it much for some reason. I guess I don't know many recipes to use it.
As for modifying recipes I do it all the time. SOmetimes there's something that sounds really good, but has a few things that I don't like so I change the ingredients a bit. Or sometimes just to try how it will taste if I change this or that.
THe truth is that sometimes I can't remember how I did it before, hence the variations heheheheh

I have not ever made this recipe. I think I would be in trouble if I had a whole crock pot of it!!LOL It sounds like somethign that I would have a hard time staying out of!

Oh now this sounds just devine Gerty.I l;ove hash browns so i for one will be trying this for sure.I dont cook at all,my son does,he makes stirfrys & just throws in whatever we have,sometimes doin that actually works better than a recipe.
