What Gauge Are Your Ears?

I must say, that avatar disturbs me a bit too! I don't think that's an ear either. But I did not choose the avatar for the discussion, it just goes along with this topic until someone else uploads another picture that is deemed better I guess. So I'm not offended at all.;)

May I ask how old your youngest daughter's friend is? That sounds pretty inappropriate! And couldn't she just tell you instead of showing it off? Wow!

I can't imagine the pain of piercing ears with ice and a sewing needle. My mom had hers pierced by a school nurse with some type of needle (I think it was a sharp new one, I hope). They just put a potato behind her ears and did it. I think the most painful way has to be what my friend told me she had done though. She went to some store in the mall and they actually shot the earring through her ear! That has to be a pretty blunt tip I'm amazed it even goes through. And I thought it was bad having a needle going into a tube and then sliding a ring into the new holes. I thank my lucky stars that I never went to a mall piercing store.

Is it fairly easy to get your ears to downsize? I was thinking about going a little larger than an 8G, but then I'm not sure if I'd want my ears like that permanently. I wasn't sure if it would stretch them out forever or if they'd just go right back.
