well, this is Reader's Digest 5th Humor Issue, and based on his TV interview, Michael V believe that it was his Asian best actor award that got him the spot. He won Asian TV's Best Actor Award. Although he said, he himself was surprised and couldn't believe the opportunity that he got. Thanks for responding!

Maybe it could just be the Asian edition... but how many Filipinos do we get even on that edition. I do hope you could be proud of this achievement of a Kabayan. Thanks for responding.

But that's precisely where you and I disagree: it's not an achievement. A lot of Pinoys have been featured in more reknowned publications for NOBLER deeds than being a comedian. Heroic deeds by Pinoys and Fil-Ams have always been featured in the New York Times, Times Magazine, IHT and even in US Editions of Readers Digest itself. Those are deserving of real Pinoy pride than a Pinoy comedian being featured in Readers Digest. We should applaud true grit and excellence, not mediocrity.

Wow... Everyone has different talents. Maybe he didn't win the noble prize or talk down a hostage situation but he is being recognized for something in which he excels. Let those who want to celebrate his accomplishment have their moment.
On another note why do people always say things like "i don't want to rain on your parade" or "no offense" or "I hate to say this" when in reality if they didn' want to hurt or bring anyone down they wouldn't say anything.

@alpram: because the last time I looked, this is an opinion forum. people are supposed to express their opinions, however much it differs from the grain. and so i'm free to say that it's ridiculous to applaud crap, just as you're free to applaud crap. because when you speak of talent in Philippine comedy, the standard of excellence has been set by Dolphy, not a mediocre two-bit comedian who failed at doing rap. Granted, this is a personal achievement for him, but there's something wrong in saying this should be cause for national pride. and if you can't see the difference between personal achievement and national pride, then one of the more senior Pinoy members in Mylot was right after all in his comment about a similar discussion like this: that Michael V. and Pinoy artists like him has indeed "succeeded in the idiotization of the masses". And that says it all.

Hi! Based on his TV interview, they called him on the phone, asked about his beginnings. His days in Tenenement (is that in FTI?) Indeed, his story would definitely be inspiring, as it will tell his humble beginning to where he is now. If surely makes us proud to be Pinoy! Thanks for responding!
