hello all of my good friend's here at Mylot. you-all will never believe what that i ran over coming from the store! a family of raccoon's was trying to safely cross the road until i was upon them while driving that i didn't see the first raccoon until it was too late! oh my gosh! it made the awfuliest noise when i ran over it and then i had the nerve to look in my rear-view mirror to see what had happened to the raccoon, duh, i just ran over him. the raccoon had went into the other lane of oncoming traffic. i sure didn't mean to run over that raccoon that was in the road. the other raccoons that were trying to cross the road went back into the woods. lol they made the smart move. so tell me, have you ever ran over something while driving along like that? thanks for sharing and have a beautiful afternoon.

1. tyc415 (3252) | 3 months ago | I can't recall running over any animals before. I have dodged a few and missed them and thank goodness it was in the country and no oncoming traffic. The animal I don't like to come upon are skunks. One night I barely missed one, I heard a noise and thought for sure I hit it but after picking up my husband from work on our way back we looked and didn't see it or smell it. Before I was married I had a date one night and while out he ran over a skunk, needless to say that date was cut short. That was a stinky date. hehehe At least it was not my car that had that horrible odor.

2. writersedge (3490) | 3 months ago | Squirrel, I tried to avoid him, but whichever way I zigged, he went the same way, so I went a different way, so did he. It was like we were dancing. Finally I avoided him with my front tires, but he must have run underneath my back tires, I heard a thump and he was flattened! Just can't help some critters!

3. txchaplin (108) | 3 months ago | You poor thing. I definitely know the feeling. A couple of years ago, I lived in a rural area and had to drive home from work at 3 a.m. All kinda animals are out that time of day. Anyway, I made it all the way to my neighborhood and decided to check the mail. On the way to the house, I saw a black cat cross in front of my Dodge Ram. It made it's way safely across cause I saw it when I looked in my passenger window. So, I kept driving. Either the cat ran back towards the truck or a 2nd cat tried to pass cause I felt a bump and hear the horrible noise you talked about. I prayed it was a newspaper that I had run over. When I parked in the driveway, I got out of the truck and looked down the road just in time to see the cat twitch a little and then completely stop moving. I felt so bad, but it totally wasn't my fault. That was a bad year anyway because on Christmas day, a deer ran into the road and crashed into the side of my Mustang. Then another night, I hit a different deer with my truck. I should just stop driving all together.

4. LouiseKnittel (1625) | 3 months ago | Oh MY how awefull for you! I would feel awefull if I ever hit anything. I would feel bad for the poor little thing. I did hit a deer before. I though it was dead. I guess he was just knocked out. I called my sister in law and told her that I had hit it. and if they wanted the Deer meat to come and get it. By the time they got there he had got up and ran off. It was a big ole buck.

5. lexus54 (2228) | 3 months ago | A few years ago, while driving near my mother's home, I ran over a monitor lizard. The lizard which must have been about 8 or 9 inches in length is just like the one shown in the picture. I couldn't help it. It dashed across the road suddenly and when I saw it, it was too late and I couldn't stop in time. As my car tyre rolled over it, I could hear a crisp cracking sound, and when I looked back in my rear-view mirror, I could see the poor thing flattened out on the road. I felt terrible that I had killed an innocent creature. Luckily, I've only had this one experience and didn't run over other animals in all my years of driving.

lexus54 (2228) | 3 months ago | Me too...may that lizard rest in peace. Actually in my country, the incidences of animals being run over are small. In places like Australia, drivers driving at night have to beware of kangaroos springing across the road. In rural places in Thailand and Malaysia, drivers have to beware of elephants and buffaloes respectively. These creatures can cause accidents and injuries if they are knocked by passing vehicles. Because of their size, it can be harrowing for drivers who get into accidents with them.

8. thebohemianheart (1523) | 3 months ago | Yuck, yuck, yuck! I hate running over living things. I hit a bird that didn't fly out of the road in time, once. I could not bear to go around to the front of my car to get it out of the grill. Had to have someone else do it. I also hit a squirrel once. I think he was suicidal though, I mean seriously. I saw him on the side of the road, and just as I got to the point where I could do nothing but him him, he ran out in front of me. I, like you, looked in my rear view mirror to see if he was ok. I knew he wasn't. I heard that awful crushing sound when the tires rolled over him. He was lying there twitching. I thought I was going to be sick.
