GUSTAV certainly scared everyone

Thank God it is over without any serious damage. I think it is all media hype and people being scared after the katrina effect.

that is so true. a friend of mine's son works for cnn in atlanta. he had to go down there & we were worried to death about him. you are right thank godit wasn't bad like katrina but bad enough. i think about one good hurricane would do me.lol

i have watched news that covers gustav hurricane though i am not pleased at all i am still thnkful that it is over and done though i am not frmthe US i still care for human in general nad the effect this hurricane on every individual..

still there was a recorded death and the damage was still there hoep and pray that everyone that were affected by it will be fine sooner...

Yes, it scared people--unfortunately, we didn't know it would lose power and be so weak. Now, with Ike on the way, people say they are never again going to flee a storm. Ike is heading right for New Orleans and will probably be category 3 or stronger. With the warm Gulf waters, it might even reach 4 or 5! All those foolish people will die, be injured, lose their properties.

I certainly pray that Ike loses power and becomes just a tropical storm. Those people will not listen to reason anymore.

Gustav is one hurricane I won't forget. My husband and I were in Cuba when Hurricane Gustav hit, our flight was cancelled or delayed however you want to accept the delay. It hit the resort at a category 4 we were one hour from the eye of the storm which was hitting LaHabana at the time. The winds, rains, and the thunder was something to see.

The devastion that these hurricanes leave behind is terrible, for those areas that get hit at a category 5 is total devastation. Why stay in a place where these hurricanes are known to frequently hit.

New Orleans was being evacuated as we sat in our suite waiting for Gustav to pass through. Then when we arrived home to Canada the remnants of Gustav just rain and wind nothing compared to what hit Cuba but we got hit double whammie.
