What are the important events/occasions you celebrate in your family?

Well.. My family always having dinner together... But for celebration, we celebrate Chinese New Year with the big family, New Year, every family member's birthday and also my parents' wedding anniversary. I think it would be enough celebrations considering I have 3 siblings so that would be 6 family members. So at least there would be 9 celebrations in a year:)

we don't celebrate as much as we use to & i miss that. my children are grown & usually have plans of their own most of the time. we still celebrate thanksgiving & christmas, the grandchildren's birthdays & that's about it. i ask them if they want me to cook for different things & they say no. i think alot of that is due to my bad health but would love to get together w/them more often.

The most important occasions that my family celebrate are our birthdays.it comes only once a year.Even though we don't have money to spend for the occasion we just don't mind it as long as we thank God for the day that he has given.

There are no social implications in such an affairs. I think in every society world over there are celebrations to get rid of this mechanical type of life as you expressed rightly and it is within the fitness of the things to say that we have become mechanical that we have lost our credentials of being great celebrators being Indians. What more can I say. Think and comment.

in my family, Solar Festivals are important. the Solstices and the Equinoxes.

and as well as those, we particularly mark Samhain, as it is a very special time of the year. the ending of the old year, and the beginning of a quiet time. at the winter solstice, things get moving again.

Well the top one is Samhain for us, in fact its THE most important out of any and all celebrations...Next in line would be Yule and Christmas and then the kids birthdays..Other than those things there really isnt anything else that I can think of..Then again its really early and my coffee hasnt kicked in yet LOL

My state celebrates Onam, so well, even if you dont want to, you'll get pulled into the mood.
Christmas has always been important for us, as its perhap the only time f year, we meet the entire family - grandma, cousins, aunties and uncles, and even family friends.

Besides that there are occational celebrations of birthdays and stuff. Life is not dull - lol.

The social implications of these festivals are well know, as they're very popular.:)

hi buddy.. out of all the festivals present i would prefer diwali.. this is the festival which i am enjoying a lot every year.. actually on that day only almost my whole family will unite and celebrate.. thats the major attraction and the other special interests are the colourful events

i try to celebrate each n evry little thing n my life ....that dont mean that i spend hundreds a day for that...but i try to happily drinking smtimes just a cup of coffee but with family....
n their togetherness makes the real celebration....

hi narayan. in our family we all gather for diwali. we always celebrate it in my grandparents house with them. ours is a big family and we all stay together. the elders make sweets and prepare the food and necessary things while all the children enjoy bursting of crackers. i can say this is one festival that we all unite and have loads of fun.
