I assume that the numbers themselves are not the reason why you have luck (though it my still be possible). I think that the secret behind having good luck due to numbers is because you focus yourself to the point of attracting "positive energy" that in turn gives you the good luck you wish. The same thing goes with bad luck. The more you avoid it the closer bad luck will come to you because you'll probably be focusing on not wanting bad luck to the point of attracting "negative energy" and eventually having bad luck. I think it has something to do with a saying that goes something like this "one often encounters what he avoids along the path he took to avoid it". How about you? Any luck numbers?
