Did you have cats or dogs when you were a child?

We always had dogs and our dog's name was Zach. He was a German Shephard, he later died of heart worms. I miss him so much. The vet informed us that the best thing to do was just to put him to sleep and we didn't want him to suffer anymore or just sit around and watch him die. I personally always wanted a cat. But my brother was allergic to cats and my mom did not like cats. So always stated that I would have a cat once I moved out on my own. So now I once moving out I did have my share of cats and dogs. I had a cat and then once meeting my fiance now husband we got two dogs a blacklab/husky mixed and a black lab.We eventually gave them away because we had to move from a house with a yard to an apartment and these dogs were more of outside dogs. Now after moving into an apartment we now have a brown 4 month old tabby cat. I think we are alot more happier with having cats, but I miss dogs too. I think once we move into a house, we will get a dog and we'll see if we can find one that is friendly with cats.

I hate with dog and cat from my childhood. I want see any animal freedom. Why people keep pets. If they have lots of money thy can spend on poor. Government should ban on keeping any pets.

We always had dogs when I was growing up. And when I married, I married "dog men." But when I lived in Central FL, on an acre of land with a barn, a stray cat left her two kittens for us to care for. We called them "Hissy Cat" and "Pretty Kitty". Hissy Cat let us feed her, but she always hissed. Pretty Kitty eventually let us touch her, but that was it.

Then...both of those stray cats had kittens at the same time. On our roof! We got them down and put them on our porch for the "wild cats" to feed, and they would carry them back to the roof at night.

We finally brought the box of kittens inside. Pretty Kitty would check to see that our dogs were not inside, then rush to the closet where we had the box and feed all the kittens and rush back outside.

One of our doggies - a small Yorkie-Poo/Shih-tzu mix - produced milk to help feed the kittens and was quite surprised when they grew up so much different than her. (I guess she figured if she fed them they would turn into doggies?)

We were able to give away all but one of those kittens, and he went with my son and me when we moved to Texas. He ended up being a barn cat, though, at my sister's house. Guess he had that "wild cat" still in him.

Now, I'm married and living in Ohio - to a man who like cats and dogs equally. We have one big dog and one small one and one short-haired cat and one medium-haired cat. What a wonderful pet family it is!

I grown up with dogs.
And I still love them.
But as I work quite much,I don´t want to own a dog.
Beacuse it´s a scam to leave them along for many long hours.

Yes and yes. We first had a cat that kept getting pregnant, so we had to get rid of them. Then we had a dog named sugar baby. She died of dytemper. It was sad. Then we had Belle-- I loved that dog sooo0ooo much. She was like my soulmate or something. She got hit by a car. Then we had Autumn. She was crazy. I wound up giving her to a family that had a baby born with no brain. MAN THIS IS JUST SAD!

When I was in the thrid grade my dad brought home a white poodle which was suppose to be my pet his name was Snoopy he took to my mom though and he became her dog She had him a long time he died when I was 19 years old. I have two 8 month old kitties right now. Frisky and Jazzy.

We always had dogs and now I am in my own home I have 3 dogs - all jack russells called Stella, Coco and Buddy. I would love to have more and my husband jokes that we need a farm!! lol

When I was a kid we had 3 cats,,i love them! I think of myself more of a cat person. I think cats are very affectionate and easier to take care of. We would even sneak the cats into our beds at night and sleep with them because I felt bad leaving them outside. My mom just recently found out and said that she was glas she never found out before. Later on my dad got us a dog but i never really liked him. Or maybe it was the fact that I had to clean up after it always.My brothers never helped and when it got old and had to be put to sleep, I even had to pay the vet because no one would do it,,,so i have fonder memories of my childhood with cats.

Both my dad and I are allergic to cats so we only had barn cats. We also had dogs. My mom is a big time animal lover. We also had horses, sheep, a goat, birds, rabbits, a few cows, a pig for awhile, a rat, snakes, fish...

I have no pets. I would be perfectly happy to never have any. My husband really wants a dog though. We made a compromise. When we move someplace where we won't be traveling all the time we can get a pet. Not until then. I would be the one that has to take care of his pet. Our 2 year old daughter is terrified of most animals right now anyway. All of my family have pets. She freaks out when they come near her. She likes them from a distance and that is it.

I like monkey more since they r more intelligent.

I like young ones of cat and dogs and not really them.....because their kids are very good...when I was young I used to hold the young ones of dog and I take them to my home...my mother badly rebuked me many times....ha ha ha ha lol....
