help me decide on a career!!!

There are a wealth of scholarship sites on the internet and I would encourage you to scan through some of them. Firstly, you will get an idea of what is available to you and may help you narrow your career choices. Think big and go for it!
It is challenging for Moms to go to school but there are options. You've got a lot to consider and best of luck on your journey.

yeh your first discussion woo hoo well i can't give you any more advise than i've given in person i really do think so careers tests and really narrowing down what your passionate about as oppose to just interested in will help. I mean your going to be doing it everyday so the passion needs to be there if it's a career your picking and not just into to pay the bills. I'm leaning towards the social care thing because i know you and i think you can be caring and sensitive but also honest and objective and you'll be able to switch off and go home we already know i have no off switch. you'll get there babe i have faith in you. Hi Jessica, Firstly a big warm welcome to myLot, I hope you enjoy having the F word here FUN as that what it is all about as well as having debates in serious discussions. You are blessed with a friend in Mands as she is a loving warm human being and I have grown to think a lot of her since she has been here at myLot. Well back to discussion quesion, as a mother of three children with my youngest just having started school also the work I do give me the bulk of the school holidays off as they shut down, Christas, Easter and for over three weeks in the summer which is fantastic for mums eh, you have your NVQ2 in childcare already so maybe work in a pre-school nursery would perhaps suit for work for now but at the same time enroll to do a teaching course to become a teacher. I would personally go to see a careers officer as see after doing a personality/ideal career type test you are most ideally matched to. I used to want to be in the police force myself but back then (as I am 45 now) I was too short LOL but I don't think size matters these days. Listening to what your heart is tellng you as you say you would like to do something for you so it maybe something away from children that could suit better, it is never to late to study and learn so GO FOR IT, don't limit yourself and live and work towards your dream. I haven't got a clue about funding that could be avaiulable but maybe again a careers oficer could help with this. After having done Law a few years back I am now doing an advanced criminology degree from home but I paid about £30 a month in instalments for that but I am sure that LearnDirect that is always being advertised could help in some one too. Good luck in whatever path you decide to follow and please let us know which one you choose. I do know though that there are not enough qualified midwives available at the moment and I should imagine that would be very reqarding as birth is a blessing but unsocial hours if you have young children same as the police and nursing.
