What is your mother tongue mylotters?

Born and raised in the USA, mine is English. I learned Spanish in high school but forgot it as soon as the school year was over.

English is my mother tongue. I grew up and still live in the USA. I did study a little bit of Spanish in high school, but I do not really know all that much.

Hi there! I'm a Malaysia born Chinese. Mandarin is my mother language. My 2nd language is malay and English because in Malaysia, we were brought up in "multi-language" culture. So, where are you from?

Tonytt2009, where are you from? You mean to say that in China, English was only learnt when you all are in high school? Ain't that a bit too old to start learning a 2nd language. Anyway, you had quite a good command of written English even though you started learning it only when you are 13 years old!

Well, I was born, bred and raised in Singapore where everybody is billingual. From a tender age of 2 or 3, we enter into school and we had to learn two languages - English being our first language, and then one Mother Tongue (depending on your race).

The Chinese in Singapore will learn Chinese, the Malays learn Malay, the Indians learn Tamil. I'm Chinese so my mother tongue is Chinese! And I hated it in my 17 years of studies. Thank goodness there is no need for the use of Chinese anymore ever since I had graduated from college.

In college, I took up a further 2 more language as my 3rd and 4th language. And that is Japanese and French. Needless to say, I forgot both as soon as I graduated this year. We don't use this two languages over in Singapore at all, save for the fact that we use it in the lesson itself (1 hour per week?). It is of no wonder they are forgotten as soon as I graduate.

So, that about wraps up the languages that I know and had learnt. Fluent in both English and Mandarin (Chinese), and very weak in Japanese and French! Hope that you enjoy my post! Lol.

My mother tongue is Indonesian, because I live in Indonesia and every people around me say with this language. I learn english as my 2nd langugae and chinese as my 3rd language.

My mother tongue is English and that is the only language I speak, I am happy with the language that I speak, I think it's nice when other people speak our language, that way I can communicate with you.
