My parents were suppose to name me April... because i was born in that month... but my paternal grandmother insisted that i be given the name of a saint... my grandmother won... now i wonder... can our name influence the life we led... or the life that we have righ now?... 1. drannhh (5517) | 3 months ago | I am pretty sure that if I had kept the name my parents gave me I would be nowhere today. There was a huge battle in the family when I was named with some wanting one horrid name and others wanting another. So when I got old enough, I just changed mine to what I wanted it to be. Now that is who I am. I don't even know that other person. I don't know why people keep names they don't like.

Thanks for the response.

We don't have a chance to select our names when we are just babies. Of course we can do when we grown up. But for myself, I will keep the name. Because it is a very cherish memory and it will never happen again. My grandfater named me when I was born but he is passed away now.

aseretdd (4920) | 3 months ago | My grandmother who named me passed away 10 years ago... and i do appreciate the name she gave me... but i just wonder if my life would be different if my parent stood their ground and gave me a different name... will there be a great difference... or only a slight one... Thanks for the response... welcome to mylot and i hope you enjoy every minute of your stay here...

3. sacmom (3549) | 3 months ago | Hmm, I don't know. However I would have to guess it wouldn't make much of a difference, if any, so long as the name wasn't something drastically different where it might have caused issues for someone. My parents planned to name me Kathleen June, because I was due in June. But I ended up being born in July instead so they named me something else. This name was still common enough so I didn't have any issues with my name growing up, other than it being a little plain. LOL

aseretdd (4920) | 3 months ago | My name is also quite plain and very old fashion... if i were made to choose then... i would have chosen the name April... because i have never met a person with that name so... i think it is quite unique... but as time passed by... i came to love my given name... because a lot of great people have the same name as mine... Thanks for the response...

But i think having a nice name makes some changes in life. But there is saying that a name is name. by whatever nmae you call arose, it will be rose.

aseretdd (4920) | 3 months ago | That is a nice saying... "Whatever name you call a rose... it will always be a rose"... this is the first time that i have ever heard or read that quote... it kinda say that whatever your name is... you will always be who you are... Thanks for the response...

5. nengs10 (3028) | 3 months ago | My name would also be different. My father has a different name in mind for me. It was not realized because he was away the time I was given my name. I think, there's nothing new actually if my name will be changed. I'm not also sure if there would be influences in it.

aseretdd (4920) | 3 months ago | Too bad your father was not able to give you your name... but if you were to choose... do like your current name... or the one that you father should have given?... Thanks for the response...

6. dorothy822 (109) | 3 months ago | Hi there! Well, I don't really feel the name would be so powerful. Only when I hear extremely strange names would I sympathize them. For example, one of my friends' friend's name sounds really like SPERM in Chinese. i just can't imagine how could SHE survive this, especially in traditional China. And I also believe if she could survive this, she could survive anything else in this world. So, don't deny yourself for a name, it's probably only a tag in your life. Good day!

aseretdd (4920) | 3 months ago | Oh my... sperm for a name is not a very nice one... she would be the object of a lot of jokes among her friends and collegues... but like you said... is she survives all those nice and not so nice jokes... she would be a very strong person... Thanks for the response... welcome to mylot and i hope you enjoy every minute of your stay here...

8. everlasting (10033) | 3 months ago | I do not think so. We create our own destiny and it was not created for us nor affected by how we were named. We have choices, and these choices drew our paths we walked on.

aseretdd (4920) | 3 months ago | Well, i guess you do not believe in fatalism or destiny... i often believe that we are destined to fulfill something in life... but how we do that is up to the choices we make... Thanks for the response...

| 9. SynthEtika (41) | 3 months ago | You'll be amazed to know how much your name can influence your life. Parents sometime give the strangest name to their kid not knowing that it can have serious repercussions. I hope your name hasn't made your life difficult, if it did, you could change it for something else. Good luck...

aseretdd (4920) | 3 months ago | My name did not make my life difficult because it sound really nice and a lot of saints and great people have my name... so i did not really think of changing it... but i just wonder if i was name April... if my live would be the same... | 10. texmama (56) | 3 months ago | Ohh yeah... My given name was absolutely a horrible name. I won't even post it here! I was teased mercilessly and changed it legally when I was old enough to do so. I definately think I would have had a different childhood if I had had an acceptable name.

aseretdd (4920) | 3 months ago | Children can be mean at times... and i am so sad that you had to be a victim of teasing just because you had an odd name... good thing you were able to change it legally... and you were able to move on with your life... Thanks for the response... welcome to mylot and i hope you enjoy your stay here...
