I am using it now. It is a quite innovative browser concept. The main advantage that I see between it and any other browser is that each tab is a separate process so if one website causes a crash or a hang or tries to do something nasty to your PC, that process can be closed without affecting the rest of the browser.

The intention was to make browsing and accessing different websites more secure and also more efficient in the use of resources. When you close a tab or window ALL the memory is returned to the heap (most other browsers keep a little of the memory reserved and this can add up over a day ... until you finally need to reboot!)

Because each tab/window is a separate process, this also has the advantage that you can log in to multiple Google or Yahoo accounts in different tabs - very useful if you keep separate accounts for different types of mail, for example.

Another innovation is that the Address Bar and the Search Bar are amalgamated. We often do not know the exact URL of a site we are searching for, so it's natural and quick to type just what we know, for example (if it's not a Bookmark or a Favorite), you might just type 'MyLot' or 'mylot' to find this site. Chrome looks at your History first and suggests any previously used URLs. If it doesn't find any, it becomes a search engine (and uses your default one, not just Google ... this will automatically increase your earnings on MyHomepagesFriends if you happen to use that as your default!).

I had a problem with one site that uses Java. It took a little searching through Help to find the solution and I had to download a beta version of Java (v6 build 10) in order to get it to work. It warns that this version of Java may be more unstable than the released versions but I haven't had any problems yet.

When you install Chrome, it can effortlessly import settings and passwords from Firefox and IE. I found this was a doddle and it recognises most of the sites I regularly visit and passes my username and password to them as normal. (I appreciate that using a browser in this way is not very secure but, since this is my home computer, I find that level of security acceptable and my Windows account is set up with reasonable - but not uncrackable - security.

I said:

"Because each tab/window is a separate process, this also has the advantage that you can log in to multiple Google or Yahoo accounts in different tabs ... "

Unfortunately, this is not true. It seems to work for a bit and then something or other gets around to realising that two different accounts are logged in in the same browser!

I can, however, log into multiple accounts in different browsers (IE, Firefox, Seamonkey and now Chrome!)

Yes, not only have I tried Google Chrome, but it is now my default web browser. I love it. There's an online comic from Google that tells you how it works, and I must say, I'm very impressed.
