Which is easier to handle: physical or emotional pain?

I would have to say physical pain. At least if your hurt physically it may hurt at first; but you know eventually it will go away. With emotional pain it may go away; but you never when it may come back; or it may never go away.

In some ways I think emotional pain can be worse. It is just so hard to get past being mentally abused. Of course, the same is true for phyhsical abuse. But having been severely mentally abused I know it made me feel worthless and helpless and ruined my self esteem.

Definately physical pain!

I think it depends a lot on your situation. I have a very high threshold for pain due to a connective tissue disorder.

Just this year, I went to the emergency room with stomach pains. They couldn't believe it when they found out I had a 5mm kidney stone. To them, it didn't seem like I was in enough pain to have a kidney stone of that size:D

Sometimes it is hard to deal with both pains in life. Having physical pain accompanied by emotional pain can be a real struggles in life.\
If I actually had to have a personal choice I would rather experience physical pain as opposed to emotional pain.
I have had my share of mental and emotional struggles and there have been physical problems but they go away. Nothing can take away your feelings long after a trauma could happen.

My own opinion is that emotional pain is more difficult. You are right with everything that you stated. But another side is with physical pain we have many medications that can help with pain whether it be a mild headache or something more severe. MOST times that medication helps.

With emotional pain we do have medications as well. But they can be horrible with the side effects. Many people do not recognize when they need emtional help. Terrible things can happen if the emotional pain goes on for too long or becomes to severe.

i prefer physical pain..coz it heals more easily than emotional pain..

That honestly depends on the individual really...For ME PERSONALLY physical pain is far easier to deal with and process than mental/emotional pain is but thats just me..I know ppl however who are more inclined to handle emotional far better than physicial...There really isnt any one set answer for all ppl ya know..

for me, i would rather have physical pain than emotional pain...emotions are hard to heal and also has unknown time and cure for this kind of pain...while physical pain, i can go see a doctor ans solve it in a matter of some time.

i hate physical pain. once i got injured on my leg due to crashing my motorbike. the injuries itself are not so terrible (well, terrible enough, though). but when the nurses started cleaning my wounds with alcohol, iodine and other stuff.... god! it's almost unbearable. i promise myself not to hurt myself anymore.
well, i think emotional pain is more bearable. i believe i can handle it. spirituality taught me how not to be affected by emotional pain and other mental disturbance just...no physical pain please....

Physical is easier. Usually there is some sort of meds or treatment of some sort to ease the pain, and it eventually goes away. Emotional pain, is much harder to "fix" for most people. The worst is when you have both at the same time, but i suppose if i had to pick, i would say i would rather be in physical pain.
