How does one become or stop being selfish?

Even if you are the only child, you must have friends whom you share food or toys or anything that you own. You learn how to share if you have the desire to do it. If your parents taught you to, it will be instilled in you. If you are listening in your teachers about sharing, you will know that it is a good deed to share. I think, it is not too late to share what you have. JUst go to a government hospital and see how you can help with the needy who can not even put food on the table much less buy the life saving medicines.

It is impossible to be completeless unselfish. Selfishness is part of being human especially when you are younger. As you get older and have others that you are sloc to such as a spouse or childern you become less selfish in a way. You start looking out for what is best for them and not always yourself, but you are still promoting your own interests as they are apart of you and your world. We as humans will never be completely selfless as we will always look out for our own best interests. The only way I know to combat this is to try and treat others as we want them to treat us. At least this way you are taking others into consideration when making your choices in life.
