Favorite Doctor?

I liked the doctor before him,his real name was Jon????? I liked the assitants Jo who was with this doctor and the other one called Sarah Jane, can't remeber any more

It's very tough for me to say which actor was my favorite Doctor Who. I started off in the 1980's with Peter Davison in first run, which re-runs of Tom Baker on my Chicago PBS station.

Then it was years before I saw the show again because it just wasn't found anywhere where I lived. Then they revived the series in 2005 and I was in heaven! I never heard of Christopher Ecceleson before and have seen works of his since and he's a fabulous actor!

I was able to catch up on a lot of the old series via a few websites online. I found a lot of the stories in Sylvester's and Colin's time were terrible and it just made it impossible for those two actors to really shine in their roles. Given better stories and productions, that era would have been just as spectacular as the others.

Now, David Tennant ... another actor I've never heard of before his appearance as the Doctor ... and oh boy! I may be married, but my heart skips a beat or 10 when I lay eyes on him.*grins* We have a lot in common where the Doctor is concerned (age, first Doctor, etc).

As I've mention on various Doctor Who message boards, when this question has come up, each actor has brought unique and awesome aspects to the Doctor they protrayed. There truly is no good or bad Doctor. They are all special in their own way. And I love it!

I can not wait until next month, November, as there is supposed to be a special with ALL the living Doctor Who actors playing the Doctor. And then onto the Christmas special. Am jonsing here! I want new Doctor Who!

I would have to agree that Tom Baker was always my favourite growing up (although I grew up on his reruns recorded to VHS). However, since the new series started, Christopher Eccleston has been right up there with him. I'd say classic series it's Tom hands down, but newer series, it's definitely Chris.:) They're all amazing though.:)
