Long Days at school

Back when the 2 elementary schools had each K-6, my kids would get on the bus around 8 AM and be home around 4 PM. Which I thought made for a long day, but that is what we get for being right on the line between 2 school districts..

Well, with my 6 y/o, it is even longer, which is another reason I really wanted to get a job if not in his school, at least in one of the schools districts buildings. Because now they have K-3 in one school and 4-6 in the other and the bus now picks up the kids at one school and then goes to the other school to pick up the rest. So now he gets home a half and hour later, at 4:30 and I feel that is way too long for a first grader to be on the bus..(He is now on the bus for an hour going and coming instead of an hour just going like my other children had)

So the only solution for this is if I can get into the school system or maybe even in the area and pick him up myself..Even if he didn't get home right away, if he is with me, I would feel better.

Do your kids have long bus rides? This is probably mostly for those who live in teh country rahter than the city..
