Rude doctor |
|
I took my daughter to the Dr's the other day. They always ask you what you are there for .The problem is they ask inside the public hallway where everyone is milling around. I told my daughter to give one thing she was there today for but not the private thing she did not want everyone to hear. Well when e got into the office to see the Nurse practitioner she was angry when she found out that there was another reason she was there ans that the reason she gave out in the hall was only one reason. She got a very angry look on her face and told us NEVER to say were there for one thing and not the real reason. My sister says that to insist we tell her, even if it is a private matter, is an invasion of privacy what do you think?

1. kareng (3137) | 3 months ago | I'm in total agreement with your and I would discuss this matter with the doctor. You do not have to put private information out to the public when visiting the doctor. I wouldn't reveal any problem in the hall. Tell them that you will be interviewed in a private room the way it should be! And if they can't get their act together you will take your business somewhere else where the DOCTOR AND OTHER EMPLOYEES AND THE ENTIRE PRACTICE are professionals and act like a professional too.

4. medney1988 (387) | 3 months ago | I'm pretty sure thats a violation of HIPAA. That doctor should not be asking for you medical history in front of other patients. I work at Mayo Clinic and we don't ask patients any type of medical history questions. We give them a form to fill out and they can go over it with the doctor. You should bring that to their attention immediately.

5. onlydia (572) | 3 months ago | Tell her to read the chart as when you make the appt. they have to put it on the chart. Tell the nurse that next you will tell her in a privet room not until then. My clinic doesn't do that. They ask when your in the room and reading chart to make sure that is why. So no you don't have to tell them in a hallway. your right how rude. YOur friend Onlydia

6. schulzie (1405) | 3 months ago | No, they never ask me what I am there for when I go to the doctor's office until I am privately in the room, just one on one with no one else around. That is just horrible that they got mad at her for that reason. They should not be asking that question out in the middle of an area that is public and not private. Also, there are many times that I will tell the doctor that I have other symptoms/concerns while I am there seeing her. I mean, after all I have paid that co-payment to see her so why not? I know that in your situation they were angry because it probably took longer to check out the other issue that concerned your doctor, but that is their job. They should not tell you to NEVER say what is wrong with you or concerning you. What would happen if you were to get sicker because you never brought up that concern.

7. soyporteno (184) | 3 months ago | Yes, that sounds like an invasion of privacy to me too if you ask me. I don't know why they would do that. They always ask me when I'm in the room. I would complain.

patricia4225 (255) | 2 months ago | Well, they are still asking you the same thing out in the hallway. The first thing they do is take your weight and blood pressure out in that hallway. Then they said and what are you here for today? This is all done out in the hallway with other patients milling around. They never wait till you are inside the examining room.I really don't understand the need for this as the dr comes in and looks at the chart they could very well ask and write it on the chart themselves.
