Where were you 7 years ago today?

I had just gotten out of bed, I had an afternoon flight that day and turned on the television a few seconds before the second plane hit the other tower. I was shocked as I sat there and watched the plane hit. I don't remember much beyond that except calling my mother and telling her that I wasn't flying that day (I was going to her house) and told her to turn on the televison. The rest of the day I was glued to the television. That event scared my oldest child so bad, for years we couldn't drive past any sort of industry around here (any that produced steam or fire) without him crying. I just noticed that this is the exact time of the second plan.

i was in the eighth grade. we were in homeroom and a teacher came running into our classroom yelling to put the tv on. we missed seeing the first plane go in and to be honest i wish we had missed seeing the second plane too. we didn't and we just watched the buildings come crumbling down. it's a sad thing but unfortunately we can't turn back time. it's sad too because right after i happened i felt like we became for of a nation. we were united and now it seems like we're just fighting each other.

I had stayed home from work with a little flu bug that day and my ex-husband called, telling me to turn on the tv, that two planes had hit the World Trade Center. At first I thought he was crazy but he wasn't. Then the Pentagon was hit and I learned that another plane was missing, presumed to be headed for the White House. We were living in Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C. and close to Andrews Air Force Base at the time. I heard the jets scramble...and that's when I got very scared for the safety of my daughter who was in school. As I was throwing clothes on so that I could go and get her the local newscaster reported that all area schools were on lockdown, that law enforcement and first responders were at each school so parents had to sit tight and wait. I called my boss at the college to see if she needed me...no, they were sending everyone home...stay put. More fighter jets sreamed over my house, my phone was ringing off the hook and so I waited, watched tv and prayed. I prayed for those people in the Towers and the people who were trying to save them and watching the towers fall was the most heartbreaking thing I think I've ever seen. As with the day John F. Kennedy was shot, I will always remember every detail of that day.

In that year I was working in Rome, it was a big shock, everything was so incredible, fast unbelivebeable, USA attacked in one of it's economic hearth, very sad for the life of so many innocent people, a big drama that hour after hour growed bigger and bigger...I'll never forget that day

I was at the gynecolgists office waiting for the results of a pregnancy test. I heard the nurses talkig about planes hittinga tower and when I left I turned on the radio and our local morning show was very somber and talking about the fats were not all in but it appeared we were under attack. I sped home and woke up my boyfriend(now husband) because he had just gotten home from the Marine Corp. He had been discharged due to injury. I turned on CNN, and while we both watched in shock I hugged him so close and rememer thinking, selfish as it was, "Thank God he is home". One of my biggest memories of that day was the lack of planes in the air. We went to the local park that afternoon, and both commented on how it was so weird that you don't notice planes flying overhead every day until they are not there. Then we saw a jet that had 4 smaller military planes escorting it. Rumor has it it was Air Force One making it's way back East. But it was a sobering sight to see.
That morning did change everyones lives forever. We were never big on prayer,at least not in the vocal way some people are. But in the days following, and that Thanksgiving (and the Thanksgivings in years that have followed) our dinner table has been silenced by prayers for various soldiers and Marines who are part of our lives, and for those we have never met.

I was eating breakfast in the dining center at college. The local rock station had its morning show on. The hosts were usually cracking jokes, so when I heard something about terrorists, I assumed they were just doing their usual thing. When I went to my 10:00 class, there was a note on the door saying class was cancelled. I was so excited - from what I'd heard, that teacher never cancels class. I went back to my dorm and back to bed. My roommate and her friend burst through the door and turned on the tv right as the second plane hit the Towers. My heart goes out to anyone who lost a loved one.

I was at work. We had no idea what was going on until a fellow co-worker who was at home for the day called us. She told us that the Twin Towers had been hit by one of our own airplanes and that we were under attack. We got the tv out of the storage closet and turned it on. One of the towers was on fire and the other one was falling. All I could do was cry and wish that I was at home with my 10 month old daughter. I just wanted to be near her and hold her in my arms.

I was working for my husband in the construction industry and I was at my desk when my mom called me and told me the terrible news. Later that morning I had a doctor's appointment I was pregnant with my daughter. When I arrived at the office there was another lady that was there for a ob visit. She was really upset her because her aunt was in the trade center. She later heard from her aunt and she was okay. I think seeing this lady upset over her aunt was when it really hit me. Let's always remember the families of the victims in our prayers everyday not just on the anniversary.

I too will never forget my hubby was closing the deal on our home in sc an I was in florida getting things ready to start our new life an looking forward to it my brother called me from his job an told me to turn the tv on I did an all i could do was cry they let the kids out of school early that day an rewatching it again on tv brings me back to the same feelings like helplessness you wanted to reach out to the vitcems but had no idea how an the sadness was just to much

I would really like to know how you managed to rope everyone in and keep their attention to the discussion. I am very glad to see it hasn't turned into a peeing match.
