Another computer problem..  | |  Because I am impatient and this computer is very slow, I did find otu that hitting certain key does minimize a page..But sometimes that doesn't work so I hit the ctrl>alt>delete buttons to close something..
Now as most know by now, this is a temporary computer, a windows 98, but good enough to be active here until I can get my XP back. On my XP, whenever I hit those buttons, only what I have open would show up, like mylot,myspace,and yahoo..But with is one, I get all kinds of weird things opened that I never opened..At first I closed everything and then after being in just my yahoo, myspace and mylot and I did it again, all these things are once again opened..
One that is almost always not responding that I close is called, "capfaem" What is that? Then there are others running that I never opened, but what are they and how did they open up? Is windows so vulernable that things open up on their own??

| | | | | | 1.  sedel1027 (12067) | 3 months ago |  apparently capfaem is a personal firewall software. Up to you if you want to keep that on your PC or not. I personally don't have a fire wall on my PC.
There are a lot of program will automatically start up on their own when you start your PC - like that firewall - and some that are made to run in the background - is Microsoft Money (just an example).
I have a feeling that Win98 doesn't break down the task manager into tabs like XP does. So you are seeing programs that you may not normally see as running.
There is a way to mange what runs on start up - I think it is in the control panel. Other programs like Windows Messenger can be disabled in the program options.

| | 3.  suspenseful (13402) | 3 months ago |  I do not know what is wrong with your computer other than you using Windows 98 but it could be a virus or a trojan. You have to check to see if your firewall is working. If you close your firewall - and if this capfaem is it then someone will send you a trojan or a bug without you knowing about. You could check to see what programs that start automatically are not needed. But to me it does sound like someone put a trojan on your machine. So you should get an anti virus that also looks for trojans and run it and then look to see how to remove the bug.
