Taking Vacation on Province how often?

We usually go down to the province before Christmas every year. It's a dual purpose: we take a short vacation and at the same time take our share of rice harvest from the family ricefields. It's a welcome break from the daily routine and stress of city life. And it's also an occasion to reconnect with distant relatives.

hey dong, where is your province? oh silly me, I am guessing form the Visayas region? the name dong is a give away, mine is just 4 hour away from here, so from time to time we go visit my mom and my siblings. just 2 weeks ago we were there and I enjoyed our stay

We used to go to the province almost twice a year when I was young -- in May, for the fiesta and in December, for New Year. However, as I grew up, these visits got rarer and rarer, so much that I could hardly recall the last time we visited either of my parents' provinces (my Mom's from Cavite, my Dad's from Pangasinan). However, we still keep in touch with our relatives there and sometimes, some of them visit us here in Manila.

As to what I miss about those visits, well, it's how simple and peaceful everything seems to be, so much contrast from the city life I'm used to. And yes, the food is great and the air is fresh and I used to find that I gain weight much more easily when I spend my summer vacations there.

I miss those vacations too and I hope we could visit this year. I think I*really* need a vacation.

Hmmnn, native chicken tinola in palayok, I missed that food, too. I remembered when we had a vacation in Canlaon, we eat rice tinolang manok in palayok and daing. But that was when we were younger, when we lived in Dumaguete and my father was still alive. I enjoyed our vacation in Canlaon, the people, the foods, the place. I was able to see the beautiful volcano there. It was a memorable experience. There are a lot of beautiful places also that we have gone and all memorable.
My father's hometown is in Metro Manila and my mother's is in Bulacan. We had vacations in Manila, but always for a short time, I didn't get to enjoy. We have been to Bulacan once only, but didn't have time to really stay and feel the place.

I go home to the province quite very often. About twice a week. I love being in the province especially that our house in the province is near the beach. I have lots of friends there and I am always excited to see them every once in a while. I like being in the province because life is very simple and the environment is very relaxing.

Too bad that I do not have a province to visit. If we want a vacation, we go to Baguio, Tagaytay, Cebu, Davao and stay at hotels. If I miss a food from certain province, we take a road trip and eat from restaurants that serve those food we crave.

Oh I love the feel of the province. The fresh air, the cool surroundings,the fresh vegetable, the native foods, the nice people around. Going to the province is one thing we as a family always enjoy. We do that during summer when my nieces are on vacation from school. It's a delight to be reunited with relatives in the province. Aside from the things I mentioned earlier, it's the company of my relatives in the province that really complete the vacation. Why? Because they are very warm and hospitable.

During schools I always envy some of my classmates because they have a "province" to go to during school vacation. For me, we have no "province" to go to because in some way we live in one. Our town is located just outside of Metro Manila so we often go there if we want to go mall-ing or to watch movies in theaters. Although near to MM, we live in province setting which we like very much.
