Men, no offense, but why do you stand so far back on a que?

Myself personally hate having someone breathing down my neck on line or close enough to see important documents or just anything personal. How does anyone feel this will make the line move faster? I mean it's just invasion of personal space. I will stand back on line just to get the guy behind me off my back. When the person in front of me moves, it leaves a lot of leeway between us and usually the guy gets the point and backs off.

This is quite an interesting social topic, that ive never really paid much attention to in the past, but i certainly will from now on, i dont know about males, but as a female i must admit im not all that fond of having somone right up in my space when in a cue, as already mentioned it doesnt make the cue move any faster so why stand so close? i dont want to smell your breath, or you body odour, so keep on keeping your distance in future please guys, unless that means im outside the shop but still in the line cos then i look stupid, or if its raining then you can all move closer.
