Pesto Sauce |
|
I made some pesto sauce with some basil from my yard. I am going to cook up some spaghetti noodles to serve it on. I am not sure what to serve with it though. Got any ideas? Do you like pesto sauce? Have you ever made it yourself?

2. redkathy (1654) | 3 months ago | I love pesto and yes I have made it myself. I use it with many different pasta and seafood dishes. I saute onion in olive oil, add a can of diced tomatoes, pesto, sliced black olives, fresh parsley, and small scallops. Cook until scallops are done and mix with a twist type of pasta. It is good with olive oil, anchovies (if you like fish), and angel hair pasta. Spread on slices of Italian bread, top with a tomato slice, season tomato with black pepper, add grated mozzarella on top and toast in the oven until cheese is melted. Make some penne pasta salad and dress with the pesto and wine vinegar instead of Italian dressing! Hope this helps you out. Have a good night.

3. Essie119 (583) | 3 months ago | I have always made my own pesto. I buy the ingredients because I don't have a garden (I tried, but the weeds defeated me.). I usually make enough to freeze for a dozen or so meals - you can fit one serving of pesto in one hollow of an icecube tray. I serve it with chicken because I serve most things with chicken. LOL

4. spectrum42 (351) | 3 months ago | I make a small garden salad and pick up a loaf of fresh bread from a bakery. You could leave the bread plain or make garlic bread from it. When I make pesto, I change out the herbs and do it with cilantro and sometimes I use walnuts instead of pine nuts. We like the pesto over angel hair pasta and we toss in some halved cherry tomatoes and sometimes black olives. I use leftover pesto as a spread on sandwiches or crackers.

lilybug (10353) | 3 months ago | I made garlic bread to go with it. I like the idea of the olives in with the pasta. I might try that next time. I read a recipe for Sage Pesto too. I have plenty of sage so I thought about trying it too.

5. ersmommy1 (7747) | 3 months ago | I have never made pesto. But I have had it. It is good for the ocassional treat. Most people eat it on pasta. But it is also good in place of tomato sauce on pizza. INGREDIENTS (Nutrition) * 1 ready made pizza crust * 1/2 cup pesto * 1 cup ricotta cheese * 1/4 cup grated Romano cheese * 2 tomatoes, sliced * 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese * add to recipe box Add to Recipe Box My folders: * add to shopping list Add to Shopping List * add a personal note Add a Personal Note DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). 2. In a small bowl, combine Ricotta and Parmesan. 3. Spread pesto over the ready-to-cook pizza crust. Spread the ricotta and Parmesan over the pesto, and layer the tomatoes over the cheese. Sprinkle with Parmesan to taste. 4. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
