I Would Have Been A Witch...  |

 Way back there was a time that ppl were accused of being witches in Salem, Mass. They were believed to be able to cast evil spells, cause crops to fail and even cause ppl to die all at their whim. Several young girls claimed to be able to see the evilness in the “witches” b/c of this numerous men and women were hung, stoned or drowned. Eventually it came out that the girls saw nothing and simply picked ppl that they didn’t like or that acted differently. Something as simple as picking flowers along the road could label you as witch. Wearing your hair differently or any number of things could get picked. Most of the women labeled as witches were just ordinary women. There was little or no trial…mostly it was all done on the say so of these girls.
Had I lived in that time I probably would have been accused as well simply b/c I tend to do things my own way. I also have a bad habit of speaking my mind, which would have landed me in a noose more than likely.
Would you have been labeled different and a witch at that time or would you have done everything to blend in? Would you have taken you’re family and fled just in case or stood your ground? How do you think the ppl that put those to death felt when they found out it was all a hoax?

I probably would have taken my family and got the heck out of there asI would have known theres no such thing as witches, I am not a fighter so I would have fled to a safer region.lol Those people that were witch hunters probably felt stupid when they found out it was all a hoax.

However since I live in a time where that is not happening, I do have my own opinions and semi-strong beliefs, some stronger than others. I don't believe in fighting and arguing with people though, so maybe even with my current attitude I would blend pretty well.
In a situation like the Salem Witch thing, I would think my life is more important than my opinion on certain matters.

| 6. teapotmommommerced (4666) | 3 months ago |  Some of the girls that where considered witches in Massachusetts had seizure like activity and had fits on the floor. It is now believed they ate tainted rye flour and got ill from it.
We went to the witch museum in Salem Massachusetts once. It was not what I expected. It is a room with statues near the ceiling and light and stuff on the floor. You sit on benches around the room and heard a story of the Salem witch trials. The floor lights up and the different statues light up at different times when they talk about the different characters. Then they have a gift shop you leave through. I was not impressed.

I have a habit of randomly popping up in different places can seethat would probably freak the ppl back then totally out. Not to mention I would were the opposite of anyting and everything they wear. If it was me I would have stood my ground and at least go down with a fight. When everyone finds that it is a hoax I think they'll feel betrayal and hatred toward the leader of the hoax. | |

Religion has always sparked debates and the "I am right and you are wrong" syndrome, even as it is today.
The "control factor" is a big thing in society, and always has been.
My attitued is: "Live the truth to the best of your ability, with God's help. Don't get in a tizzy about all of the hypocrits within the churches - just show them the RIGHT way to live and react to things. And - as much as it is possible within you - - live in peace with all you come in contact with."
There are times when you may need to address something, but just do it in a kind way, and if you don't get the response you had hoped for, let it go, and continue to be a good example of kindness and friendliness.
