Disqualify all people who base laws on religion from public office!

Even while conservative Italy has come a long way from where it was in for example the 18 century when inoculation was fought by the Church. Not only in Italy but England, France and a great many other countries those few years ago saw the Church state that illness was God's punishment for sin and vaccination went against God's will.

The day will come when all countries will forbid theological considerations and those that do so first will be the leading countries of the future.

Delicate but it needs to be brought into focus. Religion has brought strife and war; no need to see it as something divine as the results are disasters.

I know what you mean, and I must say I agree with that. You see, I'm actually from Holland, but living in Hungary. And in Holland there's the most multi-culturalism in the whole world. Which ofcourse means, these kind of things are a daily subject for the Dutch government. I'll give an example; There's been several court cases now in Holland, about a muslim who didn't want to gave a hand to the minister of finances, which is ofcourse unreasonable. In Holland, you give a hand! It's as clear as that..And as well there was this muslim who didn't want to stand up for the judge, because it was against his believe. Well, ofcourse this can't be done by anyone, or any single religion, and he has been told to stand up or go to jail, and ofcourse he eventually stand up. After that there has been some researches about the koran, and there's nothing that says about giving hands, standing up, or even the fact of wearing bhurkas! At least, in the original Koran ofcourse, and not the newerly editions. But still, the Dutch government have acchieved some things! There's not anymore allowed there in Holland to wear bhurkas in public places for example, and I think this is as well a very good example for the whole world. I'd like to speak more about this, but sadly enough, my English is not that great yet..

Your English is fine and when it comes to the Muslims that are a situation which must be dealt with. I have several discussions here and these people can call me all sorts of names but are unable to say anything about the stupidity of what they believe. Islam is all about creating an afterlife more attractive than our present life so the youth will be willing to sacrifice their lives.

One of the reasons it is so important to expose the false premise Judaism and Christianity is built on is that it also exposes the false premise of Islam.

The difference between laws and rule by knowledge and facts is the difference of a life of fiction and one of exploration and challenge.

Good ideas pertaining to religion is also always found throughout society. The Greek "Sentences of Sextus" is a collection of Greek wisdom sayings composed long before Christianity and has the entire "Sermon on the Mount".

Taking a law out because it also exists within religious doctrines would be asinine. Laws which have no support other than religious material is what must be removed.

A politician whose guide is the flawed religious material is who needs a different career.

I guess it all lays where you define "religion" The organized worship of a diety or dieties and the moral conduct dictated by that deiety/dieties? If this is the case, then every law we live by can be found in religious rooting. Your right, if we remove all the laws we have that are based in this, then it is in fact assinine because we reomove every law we have. This was my point. So whatare we left with, removing laws that only have roots in certain religions? which religions? Who decides which religions laws we keep and which we discard?

In other words a religion is a subjective reality having nothing to do with real life.

A great amount of moral and ethical teachings which are associated with religion is not exclusive to the religion and was most assuredly a precursor to the worship practices. Such commandments as not killing or stealing etc were often instilled in people’s mind through a religious setting. We see those in practically all religions and all societies. Such things as not eating pork is religious and no law should forbid it. Killing apostates; while today only practiced by Muslims was also practiced by Christians in earlier day’s and has no role in a civilized society.

Social Mores precede religion and one of my favorite old sayings is “If there is an afterlife will you spend it avoiding those you have wronged in this life?” (This is a4500 year old Egyptian saying which has nothing to do with their religion).
