SLR camera | | I am trying to look for good BUT economical SLR camera. I am not a professional photographer but I do like to take pictures. I have decided that I would buy an SLR camera this time so that I would have better pictures. I take pictures of different things and people so I think, an SLR camera would help me. I know an ordinary digital camera would do but I'd tried using this kind before and I am not satisfied with the result. Now that I am looking for an SLR camera, I noticed that it is not an easy task. First because there are a lot of brands to choose from and second because I do not know much about the features of a GOOD SLR camera. Anyone here who knows about cameras? Share your ideas with me?

| | | 2. proxiey (30) | 1 month ago | hello my friends (yes, add me):) this is my task to poison you. here is about SLR camera, i used to own slr camera last time and it end up in my dry box, WHY? because i found its expensive, and HARD to get film, and TAKE TIME to get the result. its has many LIMITED. WHY EXPENSIVE? some say, digital slr is more expensive. yes, its true. BUT, for the long term, you will found that SLR camera is much much more expensive compare to DSLR. i really can afford the COST of film and processing. a week, i do always have about few hundred shot, how about a month? this is the main reason i keep my SLR in dry box. WHY HARD? in my country, it can said that film is ALMOST not exist. its really2 hard to get it. Black n white film are sell at high price due to the "rare" factor. and what worse is, there is no place to process it. HARD rite? WHY TAKE TIME i hate to wait. just imagine i have to fill the film, shot my favorite subject and? oh no.. have to FILL again the film, have to do this..that.. oh god, i hate this. Whats next? i have to go to shop, process, PAY for the unknown result and guess what? something wrong with my picture, its underexpose, oh i want to re-shot, and guess what? i already MISS my subject. the weather are changing, all factor are change due time. WHAT IS THE LIMITATION all above are few limitation on SLR camera, this probs lead to moving to DSLR, and im happy to shot, without worry. i go home with my good catch that i have view, i edit my best picture, select them, and print them. i pay for what i want. so? DSLR is waiting for you.. go and get it:)

I don't know of a bad SLR, but some are more suitable than others for different tasks. Don't worry too much about how many megapixels it has: anything over 6 will be fine. Instead, consider the kind of sensor: a CMOS sensor if preferable to a CCD, especially if you want to use your camera in low light withur a flash. Cameras from Canon make the lens act as it is 1.6x the focal length marked on the barrel, most others multiply it by 1.5 times, and 4/3 type cameras like Panasonix double the focal length of the lens. Useful if you are interested in getting closer to subjects, but less helpful if your main interest is landscapes. If yu are interested in sports or active children, look at the highest shutter speed. Most will shoot a 1/2000 sec, but some offer 1/4000 and a few 1/8000 sec. which helps freeze action better. The majority will let you take 2 to 3 pictures a second, which soounds a lot, but in practice, is barely enough for portraits if you want to catch fleeting expressions, and no good at all for kids running around, animals, vehicles on the move or birds on the wing. For portraits and kids, you might get by with 3fps, but generally 5fps or faster is what you should look for. Live view sounds great, but many SLRs that have it do not have a very useful implementation; either yoou have to go through a complcated (time consuming) rigamarole to get it running, or you can't autofocus or the camera has to be on a tripod, or it has some other limitation. Try out the version on the camera and do not go by the ads or the salesman's promises if you want this feature. Try out the viewfinder: some let you see more of the scene than others, and also, there are 2 types: pentaprism and pentamirror. Pentamirrors are brighter, and some have the option of interchangeable viewfinders (though I woouldn't worry a lot about that just yet). Anti-shake comes in 2 flavours: built into the camera, or built into the lens. If built into the lens, it can be faster and more effective because of the way it integrates with the lens focussing motor; if it is in the camera body it works with any lens you put on the camera, which can save money in the long run: except that most of the time you don't really need it, and it eats up the batteries when turned on (so does live-view, by the way). Gnerally, I would opt for in-camera shake control, and turn it off when not needed. Of course, that rules out the 2 most popular camera makes (Nikon and Canon, which use in-lens systems, and lenses with stabilisation are expensive). The size and weight of a camera, and its control layout makes a huge difference to how comfortable it is to use, and how likely it is to come with you or be left at home. That comes down to "feel", which is a very personal thing, and you really need to head down to a camera store and take photos with a few cameras from your short list. Good luck and have fun.
