I got nervous!!!

Sounds more like spyware or malware to me. they are both harmful, or at the least a big pain. While I don't have a web cam i think it's quite possible they can be hacked, especially if your screen name is available to the public domain.

oh,i dunno whether i been hacked before.i havenot had a similar experience.it seems the intruder is trying to intrude on your privacy.why dont you report this incident to your net administrator.

sorry to hear that my friend but i never experience similar to that except an alarm from my anti-virus that somebody want to stole my identification but i reject it and my anti-virus block the malware or the spyware that want to enter on my system. i never click link from any message from ym because most of them contents viruses. i only click if reliable source sent me for reference or want me to check. never accept links or click if you do not know the sender.

i would have been nervous too if that happened to me. i have a similar experience but i didn't encounter it in YM. i was surfing the net and searching for something when i clicked on a link and i was forwarded to a site and my anti-virus program suddenly alerted me that it was a reported attack site. i didn't bother to read on, i just immediately closed the site. just reading the "attack site" words made me instantly nervous and suspicious so i just closed it immediately even before it can do any damage to my computer. i wonder why there are so many hackers in the world hacking innocent people's computers with ordinary files. i am just thankful that i have an anti-virus that works when needed.

I don't have a web camera. That would scare me to death too. It seems to be getting worse on the internet for scams, hackers and threats of viruses. Be careful.

I usually got this instant message from my YM and they are offering something that is really interesting sometimes annoying. I suggest that you never click on any links that they are giving! Just close the window or block the person who send you a message!

Oh, if that would be the case now then for sure it makes me feel nervous about this facilities in the web too access and in my part I did not experience it....

I had a chat with a former office mate and I received that link from one of her replies.I thought it was just a link that I need to check since we were actually checking some sites that time.When I opened the link it went to that site for freewebtown.I told her what was that site about and she actually didn't have any idea.

The following day when I opened my ym some friends told me that I send that link to them and that it was a spyware or something.I had to scan my pc for possible viruses and what's worst..I uninstalled/reinstalled my Yahoo Messenger.When You clicked that link..while you are chatting that link will add up to your message.It's a spyware for chat actually.Even if you are not sending a message in YM that message or link will be sent to all your contacts.

So scan your pc for spywares and uninstall and reinstall your YM.

first of all, let me answer to your first and most curious question, HOW DID HE GOT MY EMAIL ID?
there are lot of sites which just ask your email adress for some Subscribe thingie for free.. and there are lot of places where we give email ID for access...
Few sites sell IDs to spammer... whatever they provide you free, it gives them you information, e.g. adress, phone number, email ID and most dangerously credit card no etc.. and they sell those info to spammer and hackers...
these spammer send their malicious mails to you id and they use you information [such as birthday] to hack your account or guess password of people..

i dont exactly experience the same as you said but in my recent experience in the past months that im been online i have receive many unknown emails particularly bulk ones got a link that directing to some site and it was a question and answer link you have to answer only yes or no... but in the end it will ask for you to log-in to your email in that site to talk with that person... and i was so sad that the person sent me that email was my former classmates in college. he was a very clever programmer but his cleverness dont affect me coz that trick he gave me is a obvious hack attempt. and when i text him to his fone about what he emailed me he dont reply and even i msg him to his friendster he dont answer me. so i have a feeling he wants to do it intentionally.
