1. tickapa (207) | 2 months ago | Yes, can help you learn Japanese. It's like the English ... important is just to have the subtitle for animes.
| |
| |
20021114476 (289) | 2 months ago | The problem I so far experience with that approach is that whenever I read the subtitle, I tend to neglect the japanese part. How to deal with that? Is it ok to neglect some for the sake of others? Thanks for the respose.
| |
tickapa (207) | 2 months ago | It's normal to neglect the audio side when reading subtitles. Write you everything you remember from animes on a book and look in dictionaries online. You can`t learn everything from animes, must seek other sources.

| 4. alteisenindo (91) | 2 months ago | It'll definitely sharpen your listening skills but not your writing and oral skills. The real problem is if you don't use it everyday, then your foreign language skills will just fade away. [choushu o kuwashiku naru hazu da to omotte demo chosaku mo serifu mo sono mama dayo. mainichi nihongo o tsukawanakattara shirazu uchi ni sukoshi zutsu kiete shimau yo]. Then again romanized japanese is not the real japanese, you'll have to use kanji.

20021114476 (289) | 2 months ago | Thanks for the response. Are there any anime without swearing words? I usually recogize some words or phrases but I cant absorb the whole idea. I rely too much on the subtitle.

poohgal (2698) | 2 months ago | I know Anime like Hikaru no Go, Cardcaptor Sakura and etc have no swearing. I am learning Japanese. Watching anime helps to reinforce what I learn in class.

20021114476 (289) | 1 month ago | Yeah I guess, since cardcaptor sakura is catered for children. I know this but I only watched the dubed more than twice in our local TV. So far, the only anime which I watched with its original language as GTO, Ouran High School, Death Note, El Hazard and the rest(hehehe, I forgot the title of the others).

20021114476 (289) | 4 weeks ago | Hi! In my experience watching anime, I only learn from the short expressions they use. Those too long sentences are hard to follow let alone to absorb. I try to buy CDs or borrow from friends so that I can watch the same episode all over again just to extract and to absorb several things. Anyway, there are helpful animes on which there are explanations on some of the words or phrases use which have no direct english equivalent.

| 8. daijean11 (85) | 1 month ago | hmmm..i started watching anime online about three years ago..i can say that it can be a good start in learning japanese language 'cause the very basic in learning it is listening to actual conversation to know the pronunciation of words.. ..each anime has words that are said by the characters several times, like in Bleach they always say "chotto matte!" so it registered to my mind then i find a japanese<->english dictionary to know the meaning of those words..actually, i already know what it means because of the subs but i want to make sure 'cause there are some words that have several meanings and i also want to know the meaning word-by-word.. you can type "japanese lessons" on the search engines. there are sites that don't just teach you about their language but also their culture. ..or watch the "Let's Learn Japanese" video at http://www.crunchyroll.co... they'll also teach you how to write kanji, hiragana, katakana.. ..hope this helps.^.^v

20021114476 (289) | 4 weeks ago | The problem that I encounter by watching anime as another source of learning is that animes speaks the expert level in which we newbie learners can't follow. The only thing we can absorb are those basic sentences included in the conversation. We may recognize several words and phrases but we cant really understand what it meant since there are several conjugations(verbs) and declensions(nouns and adjectives). For example. a begginer only knows the past and present and affirmative and negative of the verbs plus other forms like the "te-form" not to mention that anime usually showcases the casual way of expression.
