is solar power the only means of coming out of the clutches of the greedy OPEC?  | |  we all saw how the OPEC nations held the world to ransom and increased the price of basic crude to $70 per barrel. now that they are tired of raising it further, and no immediate crisis looming over, the petroleum price is again coming down.
in this scenario, whenever crude prices threatened to go over the roof, governments started pushing for alternative fuels to sustain the mankind's hunger for energy. the one option which has stabilized so far is the solar electricity. although it is expensive to install, it is quite cheap to run, so the manufacturers claim. do you think we are again taken for a ride? or is the solution worse than the problem?

So definitely we have to go for a alternate source for energy. Solar power is one source but currently the installation price is too much. In future we have to go for bio-fuel, solar power,nuclear power plants.

| | | 2. jvs1950 (4) | 11 months ago | Yes the solution is worse than the disease,for threason that engineering will always be lagging behind science. The principle is simple but to manufacture a cost effective solar cell will require more time. Meanwhile what can we do? Go for wind turbines, biogas and other inexhaustible sources of energy. As oil prices still go up other small suppliers will increase thier production and other non opec proudcers wouldn't like to miss the party and so they step into the market with their increased production. This adjustment process in the market will take some time.
