Martin Luther King Jr Jan 15th Holiday |
|
I was shocked when i researched and read this Has anyone else heard these ridiculous allegations First of all understand this man was a hero an icon and a martyr and this made me sick Anyone else shed some light on this crap Every January, the media go into a kind of almost spastic frenzy of adulation for the so-called "Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr." King has even had a national holiday declared in his honor, an honor accorded to no other American, not Washington, not Jefferson, not Lincoln. (Washington and Lincoln no longer have holidays -- they share the generic-sounding "President's Day.") A liberal judge has sealed the FBI files on King until the year 2027. What are they hiding? Let's take a look at this modern-day plastic god. This is scandalous Sorry but lets get the true out here

Out of all the reformers of the time, King was the most reasonable and intelligent of them all. It is just sad to see that many blacks take his work and other people's work for granted. King sacrificed his life, and put his childrens' lives at risk in order to do whats right. A "holiday" on a calendar is the least that this country can do for him.

sunshinecup (5956) | 2 years ago | Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr didn't just fight for the blacks, but for all underprivilage peoples. He spoke out for civil rights for men white and black, women, and the poor. I agree, one day out of the year to rember him and all he stood for, isn't asking for that much.

vikingswest (1259) | 2 years ago | Does it bother you that The Reverend King had numerous adulterous affairs? It does me. His personal life was in disarray and he could hardly be considered such a great man to someone that took seriously his vows of marraige. He was a preacher for crying out loud and should have set the example. Civil Rights Champion yes, but a day set aside to honor the man is insulting. A Civil Rights Day would be more appropriate... Celebrate the fight to grant equal rights, don't celebrate him. We don't do this for any other American. I understand that he fought for equal rights and fought so that all would be treated fairly... except his own wife. Do you think his children approved of his adulterous relationships? I think not. I think that explains all too well what kind of a man he was. Most people don't know the truth about the man. Search for yourself if you don't believe me.

smilekeith (143) | 2 years ago | It does bother me that MLK had affairs, but the attack on his affairs are nothing more than an attack on what he accomplished. It is typical for people to attack someone because they weren't perfect, so they can discredit his accomplishment. Unfortunately, most men of great power haven't been completely loyal. Thomas Jefferson had affairs with his slaves, but still owned slaves. Does that make him an unimportant part of American History? Christopher Columbus bought disease and corruption to the Indian nations, but does that discount his achievements? No. What is the body of work? A dream to end discrimination against men, women, black, white, poor and rich. Jews and Gentiles. To accomplish this in a world where he promoted love and civil disobedience as a opposed to other methods or wars, genocide, discrimination, profiling, etc. Honor the man, not take away his accomplishments/.

lauriefnp (4242) | 2 years ago | smilekeith, that was so well-stated that I can't add a thing to it- but I will anyways! I can't believe that the media spent most of the day yesterday trying to discount what Martin Luther King accomplished for the people of this country. We owe his memory at least a National Holiday. People need to stop being so petty about someone's "dirty laundry" (we all have skeletons in the closet, don't we?) and give credit where credit is due. He did so many great things for the Civil Rights Movement in a non-violent way. We should be grateful, not ignorant.

2. sunshinecup (5956) | 2 years ago | Hateful idiots come a dime a dozen. The best thing we can do is keep the truth about the man alive and going for future generations. I don't know what crap they are trying to imply, but I have already heard my fair share over the years. I say this, this country mourned his death and still does till this day. Nothing their fork tongues can produce will ever change that. I am glad we celebrate the day we were graced with Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr. Let anyone else who doesn't, go on some where and sulk, who cares, really?

4. everybodylovesleah (161) | 2 years ago | Usually that type of rhetoric can be found on white power websites. I highly doubt the believability of anything that comes from those types of people, but in the long run, what does it matter? First off, the man is dead. Secondly and most importantly, does anything he has done discount the strides he has made towards a better life for minorities?

5. Tarrish (491) | 2 years ago | This sounds typical of some white power group. There are a bunch out there, and they love to spread this hateful stuff around. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did great things for civil rights, and gave his life so others could have a better one. Celebrating such a man is great in my eyes. They can say all the junk they want, but people with a brain know the truth about the heroes of the past.

6. fayzah (246) | 2 years ago | He did a great thing, he paved the way for all of the people moslty the minorities to have all the rights and freedome of being an American, he fought for us so that we could live in our society that we have today, sad that we no longer stand up for our rights what he did. As for the government they always have something on everyone and even if he did do something horrible, he did many great things, so we should not look at what they are claming he did, but what he had done for us.

7. raveemenon (729) | 2 years ago | His name is written in gold letters. he was a lehgend of his time and continues to be so. If some one by the myopic eyes can't appreciate the personality they need to read the history and get updated. He was the champion of the oppressed and a crusader aginst all discrimination. I am neither from america nor consider myself downtroden . But still he lives in millions of minds in India and we equate him with our father of our nation Gandhiji. He deserve something more. i am shocked to read that two of the presidents of USA were slave owners though the time was different. The world remembers and salute only those who are for the poor and oppressed and who are for service to the millions. I am reminded of Jesus and Budha only here. let us resolve to respect this leader who even at his own risk and the risk of his family fought for the justice of the teeming millions.

10. sidneysoad (101) | 2 years ago | I am shocked as well...Where did you find this quote? This is incredibly offensive! My children have been taught in public school about Martin Luther King Jr. (and other important public figures) since Kindergarten. I find it funny that they are no longer learning about the so-called discoverer of America (Columbus) as a hero, but are only taught the facts. The only thing regarding Martin Luther King Jr. Day that I disagree with is that it is a paid federal holiday, which is silly. In my county, public schools are still in session. I think federal employees are overpaid in many cases, and receive too many benefits.

maddy37 (4288) | 2 years ago | I want to thank everyone for setting the record straight My reason for publishing this was for what is happening that support for this great man is spewing forth...I found this through a search engine and it seems that we have now honoured this man the way he should be honoured. This reminds me about those that say the holocaust never happened so you see we must be strong and face avarice propaganda in the face Good Luck Long live the memory of Martin Luther King Jr
