I learned the love behind lectures & spankings

I was raised by a dad who marked a big D on my forehead. D means discipline manifested by series of lecture, punishment and spankings. He was a soldier so its just normal that he is a disciplinarian. I hate his policies when i was a kid, I cannot go home crying because i was defeated in a fight, he would surely spank me if I go home a loser. When I was in my teens, I used to walk like a cat whenever I go home late but I always find my dad on the corner with angry eyes fastened on me and I knew i'll be bathed with lectures again. His ways turned me into a tough girl with prepared fists in every battle. I used to hide my weakness for fear that my dad will get angry. Eventually, the hate and resentments to my father's ways turned into love when he cuddled me in times of my pains when I lost my first boyfriend because he died in the war. From there I understand why he raised me to be tough enough to overcome pains. Now I'm rearing my own kids and I will always treasure how dad raised me to be a responsible and strong person.

Now, whenever I feel bad, I miss my dad and sometimes I even call him that I wish he can still give me some spankings whenever I commit wrong decisions as my husband is so kind that he wont even say a thing and will just give me a hug instead. Maybe this is what they call Good Karma what do you think?
