People with grammar problem, do you choose to answer or not?

I've only been a member a few days but noticed many people with grammar/spelling problems. Since that is one of my weeknesses I choose to respond, but respond carefully. I only respond to each question if I know what the answer is.

Well i would prefer not to comment on that persons english at least not on the first instant.But may if i am able to form a good rapport with that person to a stage where even if i am advising something he does not take things to heart or get offended then i'll try to give advise.And like u said this is a global platform wherewe get people from different languages, so we must only encourage every body to share their opions and see that they are not laid back because of communication problem

I think we have all run into the bad grammer discussions. Unfortunatly, I sometimes can't understand what they are trying to say. I click on the discussion because obvioulsy I curious by the title. But then I have no idea what point they are trying to make. I try to understand even re-read the post. But sometimes I just don't get it. Those are the ones I don't respond to. I don't want to be rude and them to 'better their english' because it could just be me. Perhaps other people have no problems with the post.

It really depends. If they only have a few mistakes, then it's pretty easy for me to ignore those and answer their post. If they have horrible spelling and use nothing but netspeak and have horrible grammar with sentences that make absoultely no sense, I won't answer them at all. It's not worth weeding through what are trying to say and trying to figure it out yourself when there are plenty of other posts worthy of responses.

I will answer a post even if the English is bad as long as I can understand it. I will not try to encourage someone to better their English unless they ask me.

can I just say dont be so hipacritical. You made quite a few mistakes in that post but people dont make a new one complaining about it.

A lot of people are more botherd about actually getting a point accross, than concentrating on there spelling and grammar if you can understand it where is the problem?

No I'm not picky about the grammar. If I'm able to understand the point someone is trying to make, then I respond. I'm more critical about the theme of the discussion and the effort put in. And though English is not my native language, if I'm not sure on how to interprate a comment so others would understand it, than I'd rather avoid it, leave it out.

I had a good friend that I meet on mylot she had a really hard time on how she express her thoughts on english grammar because it is not her native tongue but I really made it a point to understand the very thought of her discussion and the posts that she made on my discussion.

I already advise her to have a dictionary on her side to enhance her english and can post more clear thoughts but aside from that I let her learn all along.

Initially,its the topic that drags us into the discussion.And after through reading the post,only then i decide if i can peck in some thoughtful insights.Gramatical mistakes do not stops me from commenting on the author's topic unless if the topic is a boring one.
