Yes his contribution is immense, and most of his songs are sung with awe even by the younger generation. And it is really overwhelming to see lots participating in the Thyagaraja Aradhana held at Thiruvaiyaru every year to sing the Pancharathna Kritis.

Sant Thyagaraja was the front runner of the famous trinities of Carnatic Music composers, the others being Muthuswami deekshithar and Shyama Sastri. It is said that he was such an ardent devotee of Lord Rama that the Lord himself come before him when he started singing and the presence of Lord Ram lent more beaty and bhakthi to his renderings. Although born Andhra leneage parents, he lived in Thiruvaiyaru, near Tanjore in Tamil Nadu India every year Carnatic Musicians in hundreds congregate at his birthplace on his death anniversary and sing his compositions. We are indeed fortunate that we are born in that country where Saints like Thyagaraja lived.
