Investigation at Death Valley ranch where Charles Manson hid email this discussion to a friend?

INDEPENDENCE, Calif. (AP) - National Park Service officials say the Death Valley ranch where Charles Manson was arrested will be closed for a second time this year to search for possible human remains.

A press release Thursday said that Barker Ranch will be closed for up to four days later this month.

A team of forensic researchers found possible unmarked graves at the site in February that they believe could be the bodies of additional Manson victims.

The park was briefly closed in April, but digging was put off because a piece of high-tech soil testing equipment was damaged en route to the site. Authorities said they wanted to conduct tests using lasers before disturbing the soil.

Manson and his followers hid out in the park after their 1969 killing spree.

No one knows how many people Manson and his followers killed. There are probably bodies all over that ranch that have never been found. It is too bad that he was lucky enough to escape the death penalty. I think they should have put his sentence back to death when they reinstated the death penalty. It is a shame that the government has to pay for all of his followers and him that are in prison. They should have all had to suffer the same fate as their victims.

For goodness sake, didn't they do their job back then? Whatwith the horrificness of Manson and his "loyal" followers' murder spree, you'd think that Barker Ranch would have been turned upside down and inside out! And what about the poor victims and their families? Will the officials be able to ID the victims and return any remains to their families? Or they giving families with missing children false hopes? I wonder...
As far as Manson and his followers are concerned, what other charges can be applied, more murders? Then what? Give them more time? What time? They are in for life as they should be, since death was not an option. I've seen Manson recently and he doesn't look like he is suffering any! Always ranting and raving about the "establishment" Get real, it's done, it should be over and let the victims rest in peace and allow the families to have a bit of peace of mind knowing that these, (oh my, I can't even think of the correct word to describe them) "undesirables" (for lack of a better word), are off the streets!
