Bermuda issues storm watch for Hurricane Bertha email this discussion to a friend?

MIAMI (AP) - Bermuda has issued a tropical storm watch for the island as Hurricane Bertha approaches.

Forecasters say tropical storm conditions are possible in the area by late Saturday night. Bertha has already been producing large swells and high surf there, and that's expected to continue over the next few days.

As of about 2 p.m. EDT Friday, Bertha's center was about 300 miles south-southeast of Bermuda.

The Atlantic season's first hurricane has maximum sustained winds of about 85 mph with some higher gusting. It's traveling northwest at about 6 mph and is expected to turn north in the next 24 hours. It could be close to the island by Saturday.

Forecasters says the strength of the Category 1 storm could fluctuate in the next couple of days.

Could explain the heinous
weather we had today.
Very rainy. Lots of lightening
and thunder.

Was not pleasant at all.
I just figured it was because
of the rainy season.

I used to live in Savannah too!
We got this kind of weather all the time.

Now everyone on the coast up and down is
getting a good dose of it!

I do not look forward to the upcoming months.

We havent heard alot about hurricanes this season. I wonder what this hurricane will have in store for us. It is always something to wonder about. Although I am inland we sometimes get some rains and or winds from hurricanes.

Hopefully this will not be a serious hurricane, maybe it will fade away in the ocean, but it sounds like it won't, I hope that it will not be too bad if it does reach land.

I like storms to not cause so much damage.

After 2 years of hardly any hurricane activity, I guess it's time for one. The global warming extreamists haven't had anything to use to say "I told you so".

I've been to Bermuda. I hope it doesn't hit them. It's a beautiful Island.

I haven't heard of a Hurricane in awhile. Where I live Hurricanes rarly come around here so I'm bless where I live...^_^ I think this Hurricane would probably become strong. I'm not so sure if it's going to hit the US. I'm not a weather perso nand all. Hey we have to wait and see.^_^

Hopefully the hurricane will not hit land anywhere and will just go away. We all know that hurricane season has begun and that there will be other ones forming. Just hope that nobody gets hit by one of these powerful storms. I would not want to live in hurricane prone areas like Florida. We definitely should pay attention to the weather when a storm is brewing to see where it could go.

I was wondering when we were going to get a hurricane. It seemed like we escaped the whole month of June without one.
I hope this one is not too terribly destructive. I lost my boat in one once.

This good news! I hope the hurricane will not hit land. I have just about enough of these monstrous hurricanes... sigh... Just think about all the damage that strong winds can do not to mention the heavy rains and all. I guess the weather is really going crazy these days.
