Out-of-state vets to pay lower tuition in Ohio email this discussion to a friend?

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio now allows out-of-state veterans to pay in-state tuition at public colleges and universities.

Gov. Ted Strickland announced the change Tuesday as part of a plan to attract more students to Ohio and keep more of them here once they graduate.

He and Board of Regents Chancellor Eric Fingerhut say the in-state tuition rate combined with the benefits veterans already receive should cover the cost of tuition at any of Ohio's public institutions.

Their spouses and children would have the same benefits as well.

Strickland and Fingerhut could not estimate how many veterans will take advantage of the policy. They said Ohio is the first state to offer such a policy.
