Praise Yourself Stay Fit

Returning to sports after a long period of inactivity takes a lot of effort. Even people who know that daily activity does a world of good have to struggle against the basic instinct of sitting around and being lazy. The most important tip for people getting into fitness or returning to it is they should begin at a point below their performance potential, said Jens Moeller, a psychologist from the northern German town of Damp. People who manage to take a walk for just five minutes every day, although they could do a longer run, boost their self-motivation. The feeling that they could do more helps them stick with a commitment to be active, Moeller said in an article published recently by a German organization for senior citizens based in Bonn. The walk or workout should be done every day. Then the activity becomes a practice and the body notices when it doesn`t occur, Moeller said. It`s also helpful to set goals and to praise oneself for partial successes. People who know that sometimes their basic instincts get the better of them should imagine the situation exactly. "When I do something consciously that is guided by my subconscious, then my inner temptation loses power," said Moeller. "It is revealed and can no longer surprise me."

New fad: Defy gravity to stay fit

Gravitation is a natural phenomenon by which all objects with mass attract each other,[1] and is one of the fundamental forces of physics. In everyday life, gravitation is most commonly thought of as the agency that gives objects weight. It is responsible for keeping the Earth and the other planets in their orbits around the Sun; for keeping the Moon in its orbit around the Earth, for the formation of tides; for convection (by which hot fluids rise); for heating the interiors of forming stars and planets to very high temperatures; and for various other phenomena that we observe. Gravitation is also the reason for the very existence of the Earth, the Sun, and most macroscopic objects in the universe; without it, matter would not have coalesced into these large masses and life as we know it would not exist. Modern physics describes gravitation using the general theory of relativity, but the much simpler Newton's law of universal gravitation provides an excellent approximation in most cases. The terms gravitation and gravity are mostly interchangeable in everyday use, but in scientific usage a distinction may be made. "Gravitation" is a general term describing the attractive influence that all objects with mass exert on each other, while "gravity" specifically refers to a force that is supposed in some theories (such as Newton's) to be the cause of this attraction. By contrast, in general relativity gravitation is due to spacetime curvatures that cause inertially moving objects to accelerate towards each other.

physical activity is needed to keep fit

A regular physical activity can significantly reduce health risks among aging men, according to a new research. The new research suggest that moderate to vigorous physical activity may lower the risk of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) by as much as 25 pct relative to a sedentary lifestyle. Physical activity influences prostate growth pathways through alterations in hormone levels. It may exert beneficial effects through improved cardiovascular health. Pre-clinical and observational data indicate that cardiovascular disease might promote BPH and LUTS. Men who suffer from components of the metabolic syndrome are more likely to have BPH and LUTS, as are men with heart disease. The metabolic syndrome is associated with systemic inflammation and oxidative stress, and inflammation potentially drives BPH. Thus, exercise that promotes weight loss, enhances vascular flow, normalizes serum lipid and lipoprotein concentrations, and prevents heart disease and might mitigate the lower urinary tract manifestations of systemic cardiovascular disease. BPH/LUTS complex often occurs in association with erectile dysfunction (ED), which is strongly associated with cardiovascular disease. It is thus possible that the BPH/LUTS complex and ED share a common etiology related to cardiovascular disease
