museum

A museum is a "permanent institution in the service of society and of its development, open to the public, which acquires, conserves, researches, communicates and exhibits the tangible and intangible heritage of humanity and its environment, for the purposes of education, study, and enjoyment", as defined by the International Council of Museums. The UK Museums Association definition (adopted 1998) is: “ Museums enable people to explore collections for inspiration, learning and enjoyment. They are institutions that collect, safeguard and make accessible artifacts and specimens, which they hold in trust for society. ” There are tens of thousands of museums all over the world. Louis Armstrong's Trumpet

This was in one of the museums in downtown Washington DC. The trumpet used to be played by the world renowned trumpet play Louis Armstrong. He is widely regarded as the best man to ever pick up a trumpet. IT is a bit old and rusty, but that's because he lived in the forties and fifties. I believe this was donated by his family to the museum, and it was great to see it as a trumpet player myself.

This is the train depot that we saw there in Stevenson. The museum is inside. It was really neat!!

USMC museum

This is a picture of the very nice USMC museum in Virginia. The military and government spared no expense when building this. They are planning on building more attached and around this building instead of building more base housing.
